"When your heart turns cold." ❤❄
Couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning for a workout, so I opted for a beautiful, peaceful dog walk at steeprock, with the goal of relaxing rather than stressing my body after a tough push this weekend. All went as planned until we got back to the car & I realized my key had fallen out of my pocket somewhere along the way. 🤦♀️
So I stressed just a little... i called Craig to help with the dogs... I ran a couple miles... but I found my key! It was a on the river bank a mile from the car. 🤷♀️
Guess I'll just save those #restdaybrags for later. 😎

Crossing rivers is a lot warmer when you get to keep your boots on.
*Holy moly If there was anything I needed in this period of my life, it was this day.*
Climbing is made special not just by the mystique of the mountains but by the companionship shared with those attached to you by rope. What a beautiful metaphor for the fragility and connection of our human existence.
and I am having trouble compartmentalizing how much this experience meant to me today.
So I can just say this to my guide at the other end of the rope:
*thank you* for believing in me and letting ME guide YOU up the whole stinkin route
(Cham to Cham in under 3 hours 💪)
*thank you* for sharing the magic of your mountainous home with me
*thank you* for making me feel so wonderfully small yet so largely empowered in such a vast place.
Honored. Humbled. Gracious.
Amped and ready to start the ~110 mile #tourdumontblanc run tomorrow!
been MIA for a hot sec 😅 BUT!!!!!💍💍💍
y'all this is the reason he signed us up for the half marathon! he was recreating the same weekend we first went to the UP together as friends 3 years ago. We first ran the half then spent the rest of the weekend in Grand Marais. Our favorite spot 😭😭 IM STILL IN SHOCK
It was March 2016 and I found myself newly single, bummed, and looking for something to fill up my newfound free time. My cousin, @kessoutwest, offered to come visit California to help cheer me up. Once here he asked if I was willing to give climbing a try. I agreed and we headed to Dogpatch Boulders for my first bouldering experience. It only took climbing a few problems before I knew I was in love. Climbing instantly took me back to my childhood and reminded me of days spent climbing all over the playground equipment. During his trip we visited a total of 3 different gyms, and I ended it by promising to sign up for a climbing gym membership. I had barely dropped him off at the airport when I received a text from him thanking me for the hospitality, and to look out for a package containing a chalk bag and chalk to help get me started. Perfect place to watch the sunset.
I call this one “River Bottom”! 😊
In case you’ve missed our stories, we are currently traveling the Ring Road of Iceland! More to come, but thus far it has been the most amazing fantastical place we’ve ever experienced!
We feel as though we are on another planet, all of the beautiful scenery is endless. Every turn of a mountain or field there are sheep, horses and endless roads to ourselves.
The locals are so friendly and seem to live much simpler lives, it’s no wonder they are one of the happiest countries in the world. 🇮🇸 ✌🏼
From the top of the Algonquin Peak, the second highest point in the Adirondack Mountains with the tallest mountain, Mt. Marcy behind me. I'm coming for you Marcy!
We hiked a pretty solid, relatively challenging 18 miles today. As tired, hungry and sore as I was at the end of it, this view raised my spirits. I hiked all this way to have this as my backyard for the night. My first little reminder of home in my Smokies came in CT. I am so thankful for staggering, big, blue mountains upon one another. It's only up from here❤
