Gina and Travis’ kitchen: Before and After
I am so excited about this job. Most kitchens, I paint some version of white. This kitchen, I was able to create a finish that went with the backsplash. After scrubbing and sanding all the cabinets, I painted them with a dark grey tinted primer. When that dried, I painted them with a tanish grey and then sanded down to the grey underneath.
This is one of my top two favorite kitchen outcomes I have ever worked on. 🤗😍

Wrapped up a 4 day Kitchen Upcycle yesterday out in Justin in a beautiful farmhouse! The cabinets were glazed with a super dark stain and they wanted them lightened up so that’s just what I did! I used my favorite go to creme in Sherwin Williams Ivory Lace. I also filled all of the original knob holes since they were to high/low on the doors and drilled new holes and added new knobs and pulls and it completed the look! ***I still have one week in July and one week in August! Please feel free to message me pics of your kitchens, Bathrooms, Laundry Rooms, Built in’s, Fireplace and Mantels etc and I would love to give you a quick free quote!*** #unhingeddesign #cabinetupcycle #kitchenupcycle #kitchenupdate #paintedcabinets #paintedkitchencabinets
On this kitchen we used Old White. This was a simple project because my client already had amazing countertops, backsplash and flooring! Because of the layout of this kitchen the dark cabinets made it like a cave. Now it’s nice, open and beautiful!!!
There is no other kitchen that has stood the test of time quite like the Shaker Kitchen. Its simple, unpretentious style means the design is timeless and equally at home in a traditional or modern property. Each of our cabinets is classically proportioned with a distinctive panelled front and surrounded by a hardwood frame. The Shaker principles continue through the design with traditional-style exposed butt hinges, classic cup handles, toothed shelving systems and oak drawers with dovetail joints. #myshakerkitchen

Kitchen cabinets dismantled and on their way to the spray booth for their paint transform!
We spent the last 3 days in sunny Edinburgh painting this fabulous kitchen for Tracey & Jim. From orange pine to this beautiful versatile subtle sage/green tone. A dream farmhouse style kitchen anyone would be proud to have in their home. This kitchen underwent the full works of sanding, filling, caulking, cleaning, priming then top coat. The finish is flawless.....even if we do say so ourselves 😉 There is still lots to be done in the kitchen and we can't wait to see all the finishing touches completed LRx

DIY // Over the past year, I have been a lot more into DIY and making our house a home, and would much rather 'upcycle' something than replace it initially. That's what I did with my kitchen, the kitchen itself was absolutely fine, just not to my taste but I am pretty fussy so it probably wasn't all that bad, but it was melamine cabinets and faux granite work surfaces - not for me! The whole project took me a couple of days, I wanted to get it perfect, I used an Acrylic Egg Shell colour match of Farrow and Balls Elephants Breath and for the work tops Fablon. I will be writing a blog post on my kitchen up cycle so keep an eye out for that (I'm not going to say when as I'm completely rubbish with sticking to the deadlines I set myself) as you can see from the photo, I'm also rubbish at finishing a job, still yet to put the handles on the drawers.
Modern open plan kitchens must work hard to meet the demands of daily life. Not only do they need to be ergonomic when it comes to the practicalities of cooking, they need to be multi-functional to accommodate family life. At The Shaker Kitchen Company we believe the best open plan kitchens are those that combine the designer’s expertise and the owner’s creative vision, to create a practical space to cook, eat and entertain, gather as a family and relax. #myshakerkitchen
You don’t have to live in a loft apartment to achieve an industrial style kitchen. Shrugging off the polished look in favour of something more rustic can be achieved by adding the right colour and texture. Dark hand painted cabinetry and brass handles and hinges set against a backdrop of exposed brick, helps to conjure the feeling of loft living. #myshakerkitchen
