Mon acteur était prêt. Il ne pouvait rester que quelques heures,prétextant que son avion repartait le soir même. Sa famille et ses occupations ne lui permettaient de rester plus longtemps. J'avais pris soin d'acheter quelques babioles made in India.
Today is #followfriday and I wanted to speak about this lovely bunch of ladies that I met last Sunday in an artist meet up organised by @tagtheartistsgroup.. It was an extremely fun experience to meet the faces behind the instagram handles and the amazing art I see on Instagram.. We talked, laughed, shared stories about our creative and not so creative journeys, and made new art together..We talked about the road ahead and what our art meant to each of us and also how it can make a difference in the bigger picture.. We all made new friends, shy people came out of their shells, I realised that I'm super chatty 😋😋, and we truly enjoyed each other's company.. For me, it was good to know that I can make more friends - earlier the only places you could make friends were school college or work.. And I thought I had exhausted my options.. 🙈
All in all, it was a good day, and I would just love to get together with these ladies again and take our creative journeys forward (there was one gentleman as well, but he was behind the camera and we have no pictures.. 🤦♀️)
So if you've made it this far down in the caption, let's do something.. Since it is #followfriday, let's find some new artist pages to follow on instagram.. In the comments below, introduce yourself and your art style.. Then from the comments, check out the feeds of other artists and give them a follow and show some love on their page if you like what you see.. Let's spread some love.. 💖💖

L is for Frederick Leach. Born in 1837 he worked on major ecclesiastical decorations under the supervision of William Morris, Charles Eamer Kempe, George Bodley and George Gilbert Scott Jnr. He opened his own Cambridge workshops on City Road in 1862 (now demolished) and, a few years later, a showroom on St Mary’s Passage. His belief was that ‘to work is to pray’ and he had a habit of doing several significant jobs without charge as a thanks to God. At All Saints’ he is most notably the man responsible for the application of the copious wall and ceiling artwork and also designer of some of the walls (the east end of the south aisle and the vestry). Walk into the church and you realise that he barely needed a city centre showroom, the whole building is like a catalogue of designs and patterns. Starting in the SW corner let your eyes climb upwards and you will take in six boldly contrasting friezes before your eyes have reached the ceiling. His company also worked on stained glass as well as woodwork and fixtures and a trail around the city churches will leave you going only a short distance before you encounter his firm’s work. But his crowning glory, described by Pevsner as “exceptionally rich”, was his work on Bodley’s church of All Saints’ which to this day makes jaws drop and audible gasps resound around the colourful walls. The picture chosen is a small but extremely refined floral border around the great east window, at once muted in dark green tones but outlined in brilliant gold and drenched daily with light through the Morris, Burne-Jones and Madox Brown stained glass.

General Bonaparte with his Military Staff in Egypt
Jean-Leon Geromé 1863.
While I was making my posts from the Egyptian exhibit at the Getty this week I thought I'd go back and look at some of the paintings of Jean-Leon Geromé who idolized Bonaparte and documented his conquest of Egypt in the early 1800s. If you look at this painting you see how weary and dejected his staff is. Having to ride on camels, the camels heads are low and it seems to be in the sandstorm because they have their head dresses on. He caught the expression on the men's faces seeming to say, "when is this going to be over" , and why did you have to drag us all the way out here".
