We spent a lovely morning as parkrun tourists in Launceston- AND (can't contain the excitement here) my hip was pain free for the whole 5k!!! My first pain free/comfortable run since early November 🤗
Second run with our little laces barcode- so far so good, as long as we keep remembering to wear the same shoes!
Now to relax with this beautiful view off our balcony, before we attempt some hiking in Cradle mountain national park tomorrow.

🌟It’s official- with the boys receiving their renewed passports in the mail, we’re all set to go on our first vacation of the year!
🌟Words can’t really express how excited I am about this trip! Last year, I got the news that I was invited to register for a company sponsored cruise trip to the Bahamas and Labadee. And to think, this amazing opportunity came from my sincere desire to help women live their best lives through better health and fitness choices as their fitness coach. .
🌟So while yes, it was meltdown city over here a little while ago, (kids and their tantrums, ya know 😱) I’m still riding high from this wonderful opportunity that I was able to give to my family. .
🌟Make no mistake. Luck has nothing to do with it. Hard work and determination do. That and believing in yourself, even when others don’t. .

Stuffing the brain and meeting new people is always a good time! Tonight, we learned about accessibility issues for all non-cars; pedestrians, wheelchairs, strollers, cyclists. It's interesting to see things through someone else's eyes who is well-trained in finding important details or breakdown in systems. We learned about curb cuts, intentional narrowing of roads to slow traffic, snow removal, signage, daylighting, and everything that makes roads generally safer.
We CANNOT help our patients and communities, unless we understand their needs; events like these are just one extra teeny-tiny step.

🌟The other day, I was all ready to workout and then BAM!- my son woke up. Before you ask yourself, “what’s the big deal about that”- let me explain. 🌟Yes, he’s done this before and whenever that happens it’s like a death sentence to my workout. #canyourelate 😫 I choose to lay down in bed with him in hopes that he’ll go back to sleep. (and get enough rest so he doesn’t have a bad day at school) 🌟But with only a 2️⃣0️⃣ minute workout commitment daily, the tables are turning in my favor. Even if I have to lay down with him for a little bit, I can still be committed to my goals. Talk about #fitmomwins
🌟I’ve been asked, “Can you really expect to see progress in only 20 minutes a day”
🌟Absolutely! The program I’m currently doing has you tracking your fitness progress daily with 3 moves per workout called Transformers. (No not, Bumblebee) .
With transformers, you count how many times you can do each move in a minute and then record that progress daily. There’s also a tracker journal that has you tracking your meals as well, so you really can stay on top of all of your goals. How’s that for organization .
🌟A little structure as to how I can approach my health and fitness goals gives this busy gal F-R-E-E-D-O-M! Seriously, why reinvent the wheel when the tools are already there for you to use .

CRANIAL NERVE #7
THE ‘FACIAL’ NERVE
Here is a little trick I used to remember the motor function of the facial nerve. Flex your index finger into the shape of the number ‘7’ like mine in the video. NOTE: It’s not gonna be perfect 😂. Also, I like to think of it as a ‘HOOK’ that is pulling my eyelids down to shut close.
The facial nerve innervates the orbicularis oculi muscle. The orbicularis oculi’s function is to close the eyelid. The facial nerve is a mixed nerve so it also contains a sensory function. The other actions of the facial nerve are:
SENSORY - It provides a special taste sensation to the anterior 2/3 of your tongue.
MOTOR - Innervates the muscles responsible for your facial expressions. As well as shutting the eyelid.
CRANIAL NERVE #7 ASSESSMENT/TESTING
In order to assess the facial nerve you can do the following:
🔘 Ask the patient to close their eyes real tight.
🔘 Ask the patient to smile and show teeth.
🔘 Ask the patient to whistle and puff cheeks(puffer fish)
🔘 Give the patient different food/drinks to have them identify familiar tastes(sour, spicy, sweet, etc.)
💢 If the patient is unable to perform any of the tests, that means there is a facial nerve problem.

Kettlebell Training & Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)
A lot of people don’t think those two topics go together but I know they can and so does @haleyshevener 💪🏼
Traditionally many who have been diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse have been told to stop all activity including lifting over 5 pounds (new flash ✨ - for new moms - newborn babies are often over 5 pounds then add on a car seat and stroller plus those babies grow and grow and need to be carried) 🤦🏻♀️
This info not only limits people physically but also mentally and emotionally and just doesn’t need to happen.🙅🏻♀️
It’s been amazing to see more professionals treat and help clients manage/reduce/resolve symptoms of POP by encouraging exercise (exercise won’t look the same for every person) and educating about up to date prolapse info.🙌🏼

After an abdonimal workout yesterday (first time in a while😂) they are tight, sore, achy, stiff ... everything you would expect!! ✔ Easy to do at home (in PJ's🙋♀️🙋♀️) ✔ Important to do at home ASWELL as at the gym
✔ maintain until the tightness starts to decrease
✔ continue to train - don't let NORMAL muscle aches stop you.
