Exercise and moving your body is AMAZING for your health. But if it’s causing you a whole lot of stress, guilt, obsessive thoughts and negative feelings...if it’s isolating you, wearing you down + leaving you drained and exhausted...or if your body isn’t properly fuelled + nourished to support that movement and recover well from it: that’s. NOT. healthy. !!🤚🏼
I used to think that more is always better when it come to exercise. It would make me stronger, fitter, more ‘toned’, more worthy as a person...turns out that actually taking a step back with training to really reflect on my goals and start approaching both my food + training in a way that truly supports those #goals REALLY WORKS.
It’s actually pretty amazing the magic that happens when you start working WITH your body instead of against it💫
You can lift all the weights in the world but if you aren’t meeting your energy + nutrient requirements, those muscles simple can’t grow!!💪🏼⚡️ It’s like trying to build a house without the bricks to do so...
Since I’ve started weightlifting, doing less crazy HIIT/cardio workouts and resting and eating more: YES my body HAS changed...but it’s all the OTHER benefits that came with it that really did it. Ones that I never got with that old mindset.
🔸Improved strength, mental + physical.
🔸Moving more efficiently.
🔸Building stronger bones and joints.
🔸Significantly improved mood, better sleep + reduced stress levels.
🔸Improved energy levels.
🔸Increased insulin sensitivity + blood sugar management (makes living with #type1diabetes that bit easier!).
🔸Community, connection and friendships.
🔸Increased confidence and just feeling bloody empowered!!
🔸Learning to appreciate your body for what it can DO and all it does for you, not just how it looks.
