I know that a lot of times, it seems like the boudoir session itself is the pinnacle of our Empowerment Experience--and, listen, it’s big! It takes courage and freedom and it shakes some stuff loose for sure! It's so exciting to see you take up space and live fully in that moment. I have such a cool job... And I also want to tell you about another part that comes after that. A few weeks (sometimes even a few months) after your boudoir session, you and I are going to sit down together (sometimes IRL and sometimes through video chat) and go through your photos together. It's this wild, incredible experience where you get to see you the way that I (the way that all of us!) have been seeing you. It's a delicate, sacred moment and it feels like such a treasure to get to be there with you during that time.
Your Empowerment Journey begins long before you ever set foot into my studio and it will continue on after that moment. These experiences that we have together are moments along that path--springboards that help launch you further along on the way. 👆🏼 I had every intention of cropping out the cellulite on my legs in this photo. I was going to hide the part of my body that I didn’t like, even though my Creator had graciously gifted it to me.
.
Originally, I was just going to focus on the fact that I was wearing my Wonder Woman socks with a cape that @MrPrestonParker gave me to remind myself of how powerful I am during my long runs. But actually it’s the legs in this photo that are wearing these socks that truly remind me of my power. 🦵🏼

These legs have helped push out to 2 babies.
These legs have made me run that half marathon.
These legs have danced + performed all over the country.
These legs have gotten through many tough workouts.
These legs are so incredibly powerful, cellulite + all.
.
Don’t crop out the best parts of you, even if society says you should. Don’t feel any shame for the way you look, even while wearing shorts + Wonder Woman socks with a cape. Don’t cover up the beauty you possess as a woman, even if you don’t see it as beautiful. Somewhere some woman is wishing for a body like yours, even with all the cellulite. There is a woman right now praying for those stretch marks you have because to her, it represents a life-changing miracle. Don’t take what you might consider as “flaws” for granted. Wear those shorts during your workout with pride. Flaunt those powerful legs in your photos. If you ever have a moment of doubt, just remember— You are POWERFUL with cellulite. You are POWERFUL with stretch marks. You are POWERFUL as you are! Take ownership of that, sis! Because in actuality, that is your SUPERPOWER!! 🦸‍♀️

I can’t believe 100 workouts have gone by so stinking fast.

This journey started 7.5 almost 8 years ago with a 90 day program. It seemed super overwhelming and long, but those 90 days were going to pass by whether or not I was showing up for my workouts!!

Taking those small steps each day for 90 days, led to another 90 days and another and another! .
The progression has taken place over time, not in one giant leap!

Gaaaaahhh!!! Almost there....one more to go 😬. . I can’t believe 100 workouts have gone by so stinking fast. . This journey started 7.5 almost 8 years ago with a 90 day program. It seemed super overwhelming and long, but those 90 days were going to pass by whether or not I was showing up for my workouts!! . Taking those small steps each day for 90 days, led to another 90 days and another and another! . The progression has taken place over time, not in one giant leap! . So if you look at 100 workouts and so I can’t do that....YES YOU CAN! . If this momma can do 90 workouts with a young baby and at 205lbs with zero energy, YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN!!

PRE PREGNANCY JEANS

I have recently seen a few posts pop up talking about fitting into pre pregnancy jeans. Moms were posting before and after shots with other women celebrating their achievement.

But there were also a lot of moms commenting that they wished that could be them or feeling bad that they didn't have the motivation to do it.

Here's the thing: there's no secret award for fitting into an article of clothing that you had before you had your children. It doesn't make you a better mom or person. In fact it is probably one of the least interesting things about you.

So why do we give it such power?

We are told from a young age that how we look matters. That life gets better when we look a certain way or are a certain size. So it makes sense that we would be very concerned about how we are viewed by others.

It's time to take that power back.

I don't know about you but even at 2 years postpartum I know I am NEVER fitting into my pre pregnancy jeans. I would need a new pelvis lol. So I want to offer a different viewpoint.

Our bodies are meant to change when we have a baby. In fact we are in a constant state of change. We need to embrace that change. Celebrate it even.

Instead of pre pregnancy jean pictures what if we posted post pregnancy jeans pics. Post pictures of us feeling good in our clothes that fit our bodies. Heck even keep those maternity jeans for awhile!

Let's start changing the dialogue one pair of pants at a time.

How f*cken powerful is that?

You have 2 choices in life:

Constantly look at the negative aspects in your life and continue to replay them in your head. Continuing to say “why me” instead of, how can I use this to grow?

OR

Look at the sh*t in your life as different life lessons and a part of life that is inevitable.

We all go through tough times, but it is 𝑯𝑶𝑾 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑨𝑪𝑻 on them that 𝑴𝑨𝑻𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑺.

A few years ago I let my mental health take over and 𝑰 𝑺𝑼𝑭𝑭𝑬𝑹𝑬𝑫.
I didn’t eat, only to eat it all.
I trained excessively, but eventually lost all motivation to go.
I had no self confidence and couldn’t go anywhere without feeling like those around me were judging me.

I felt like a lost cause because I couldn’t grasp what was going on.
I didn’t know how to cope in a healthy way.
I didn’t know how deeply my situation was impacted by the way I looked at it.

𝑰 𝒌𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒃𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒔𝒉*𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒖𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓…

I fed myself these thoughts for so long that I believed them so deeply which only made them harder to let go. ҉ LET GO TO GROW ҉ 
Not only did I choose not to suffer,

Let’s talk about self-sabotage. How many times how you had 5 “perfect” days and you feel AMAZING and then suddenly you’re on your couch, a whole bag of chips in and feeling like shit?
Asking yourself why is it so easy for everyone else and so hard for you. Why can’t you just do it?
Because deep down you don’t think you deserve it.
Deep down you convinced yourself you don’t deserve happiness and that you’ll always be the chubby girl.
.
And girl, this isn’t just fitness! You’re doing it to every aspect of your life! (How many times have you said to your girlfriends I only attract crappy guys? Because you do. Because you don’t think you deserve better)

So what’s my point? My point is that everything starts with mindset and self reflection. Until you change your internal dialogue, you will always stand in your own way.

Ok but how do we do that? How do we just change?
Here’s some easy tips I want you to start doing as of TODAY:
.
💕write down your regular negative thoughts and rewrite each one into a positive.
💕every time you catch yourself with negative self talk, repeat the positive affirmation a couple times to start to retrain your brain.
💕USE STICKY NOTES! Write positive messages and leave them everywhere for you to see (my old roommate and I had them everywhere, the kitchen, near the light switches, bathroom etc).
💕start journaling. Write those negative things down so they’re out of your mind and on paper. Start to note things you LIKE about yourself and things you accomplished that you’re proud of.
💕volunteer. It sounds totally left field but I promise you, the level of happiness and gratitude you feel after helping someone else is beyond words.
💕spend 15-20 min a day alone with your thoughts. Meditate, walk, listen to music. Just be with yourself.
