Consider today’s asana a variation on Puppy Pose. A more immediate version of it (and less intense), would be to walk further away from the wall, resting only the soles of the feet, legs parallel to the floor, upper chest and chin pushing down, and arms (also on the ground) extended in front. We’ve done that in previous challenges so, if you’d rather modify and #practice it, go for it. If you want to warm up with that, then visit the one in the pic, that’s also a good option. For this one, remember to scoot REALLY close to the wall so, once you rest chin and palms on the floor and climb legs on the wall, chances are you’ll have to ‘push back’, engaging serious upper body strength. If you’re not sure whether you’re too close, let the spine dictate what the right distance is. Make sure you’re not compressing into the lumbar area, so keep sending hips high with every ‘micro-crawl’ back and up the wall. After teaching and practicing it many times, one of these 2 things tend to happen: 1) people can’t breathe because they’re pushing with the throat, closing the pipes, instead of pressing with the top of the shoulder line and chest, 2) it feels slightly scary, like you’re about to topple over (that happens when hips are almost above shoulders...you need quite the flexibility for that, back off an inch and things will get better quickly).
Concentrate on the opening happening around the chest area and walk arms, parallel to each other, no wider than shoulder width, as straight as possible. Project through the fingertips and press palms down. Drop blades away from ears to make space around the neck and press sternum into the mat. Experiment, open up and comment below how it goes!! So often we take activities and things and correlate what those "should" look like with thin bodies engaging in those. The default, the natural, or the right iteration of those things, for instance dancing, yoga poses, or crop tops, is how they look on thin bodies. Quite naturally then, when fat bodies engage in any of those they are perceived as grotesque parodies or distortions of what's normal. Think about it though, does that really make sense Those things in themselves are what they are. The distortion exists only in relation to a false correlation, one which is normalised to the extent that it becomes naturalised. As a fat person when I do a shimmy while belly dancing, it's not a fat person "version" of the original authentic shimmy, it is how a shimmy materialises in a fat body. Same goes with yoga poses: each of those look and work differently with different bodies. As do crop tops or body con dresses. That a body con silhouette is supposed to be flat bellied with nary a roll in sight is an idea that you have attached to it- in itself a body con is just an article of clothing that follow the contours of your body- whatever shape your body happens to be. Crop tops by definition are supposed to be midriff revealing tops- what that midriff "should" look like Not quite a part of it.
I know it's hard to see, but try it. Be in your body, detach yourself from the idea of what normal or ideal looks like and observe how it moves, how it wears clothing; take in the specificity of how your body expresses itself without judgement. Just observe. See if after a while your notion of normal changes. Love and blessings from the Meditation Room...tonight the Willow and I practiced together. It is interesting working with Willow as a practice partner. When we first get down to the Meditation Room and I am lighting candles and doing stretching Willow has active energy. In fact tonight she wanted wrestlemania during stretching. I tried putting on nature videos again to see if that would get her attention and learned that she is not intrested in the deep sea fish or penguins lol So I just kept stretching and laughing as she was in wrestler Willow mode. And then something magical kind of happened tonight just as it did during Sunday practice soon as actual practice started tonight was Qi Gong, Willow just dropped right in to Zen Dog. Tonight Qi Gong was standing practice and Willow laid down resting against my leg. That was so incredibly comforting to be connected like that during practice. She stayed zen through our time and was such a blessing...including Wrestler Willow as I really needed the laughter therapy, was the perfect warm up. STRIVE TO LEAD THEM IN THE RIGHT PATH. Yesterday we talked about giving them the right exposure. Take them out and be able to guide them as you do. One of us was opportuned to be on a place when a mum and her kids cane for dinner. As They are some other young girls came in and started smoking cigarette and shitta. That mum immediately in a fun way started gisting her teens on the dangers of being involved in acts as that at a young age.
That is guidance! The bible says train up a child in the way he should grow and when He's old he will not depart from it. What impression are you creating in the mind of your child What are the values they are growing up with What are your standards of grooming What are their values based on Introduce them to Jesus early. Don't just be a Sunday Sunday medicine or eye service Christian. Give them a way to follow. Teach them precepts that they can follow early enough. Don't let them just fall for anything. Build a wall In their hearts that is based strongly on the Word of God.
Tomorrow is Valentine's day. Make plans with them if you identify with the celebration.
