I remember when I bought that shirt I thought it was flattering yet it still didn’t hide my love handles in all it’s bagginess unless I was standing just right! Het zegt me gewoon niet zo veel.

Heb ik altijd al gehad, het overlijden van m'n schoonvader onlangs deed nog een hele grote extra duit in het zakje. Een realitycheck.

Een mega reminder dat het zomaar over kan zijn. Dat het niet draait om likes of bereik, maar om connectie.

Echte mensen.

En het gebruiken van social media pastte daar even helemaal niet bij. 
Waarom nu weer wel? Omdat ik door deze realitycheck weer extra realiseer wat mijn taak is, wat ik te doen heb. 
Jou als vrouw laten zien dat ADHD pas een beperking is, als je dat laat gebeuren. Dat je tot zoveel meer in staat bent dan je nu denkt. Dat het geleefd worden door de waan van de dag je alleen maar nodeloos energie kost, terwijl je nog zoveel méér kunt waar je energie van krijgt.

Daarom: ben ik terug op social. Met een belabberd bereik ;-) En met échte inspiratie. Van mens tot mens. Geen mooie selfies, geen 'kijk mij eens een fantastisch leven hebben', geen BS.

Connectie.

Ik wil weten wat jouw drijfveren zijn. Wat jouw grootste obstakels zijn, je angsten, je dromen.

Let's be honest... Seeing asana like that on Instagram can be very intimidating to beginners and give the impression that yoga is all about making cool postures and being incredibly flexible. It seems that yoga is now just about doing handstand drills, split challenges, or getting your legs behind your head. While these are incredible credits and testimonies of what our bodies can do, it is also important to notice that these asanas take lots of dedication and practice. Furthermore, it is not (!) about being able to do that. Yoga is about discovering yourself and becoming aligned with your body. Through yoga, you are getting to spend time with yourself and the chance to really get to know who you are.
While advanced asanas may indicate the yogis dedication and their personal feedback of their journey, it does not mean that everybody has to be able to do that. Yes, yoga asana opens up the body. You work into the para of yourself and open them up. Still, bodies are individual and some are just physically not able to open up as much and that's okay!! Please, let's remind ourselves that yoga is not a competition. Yoga is connection and sharing. Let's connect through yoga rather than creating differences.

Everyone is a yogi. And everyone practice yoga in one way or the other. Lets not forget that. 🌱

Babes, here’s a lil then and now moment. I finally started doing makeup for the gram this year, but in reality it’s been something I’ve been loving since before. My mom wasn’t a huge makeup fanatic herself, but I grew up with aunts who in my mind looked like “muñecas” or dolls with their makeup. Siempre andaban muy monas y guapas ellas. Naturally I was drawn to the dolled up hair and makeup with a cute outfit to match. Junior year of high school I finally started wearing more than just foundation, eyeliner, máscara, and natural colored lips. I also started to wear clothes I actually wanted to versus felt I couldn’t and overall was more confident. Slowly but surely since then I’ve grown to truly love myself flaws and all. Six years later and I can say my brows, blending, and liner definitely have improved. 💖

My favourite breakfast is porridge (im a Scot!) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 It’s probably not OPTIMAL that I’m not getting protein in first thing, but the difference it might make on my progress? Negligible, as I hit my protein during the day 🥘 •

On the flip side, my favourite workouts are HIIT style classes 💦 They are not OPTIMAL for building muscle, and the difference to my progress if I was to prioritising these over strength training? Pretty damn high 🙋🏻‍♀️

The 80/20 rule (i posted earlier on Pareto distribution 🤓) 80% of your results are gonna come from about 20% of your efforts. So rather than stress ourself about the tiny little things, we need to learn to step back and focus on the bigger picture....

Getting EVERY SINGLE THING SPOT ON, realistically, isn’t going to give you much of an advantage over the person getting the key 20% of things right. Infact, chances are the stress of trying to hit every aspect to the latter is probably gonna override the minute difference the other 80% might make 💯

Despite what you may see, fitness and making progress in the gym should NOT BE about overhauling your entire life 🥳🥳 That’s not sustainable or enjoyable. Learn to prioritise the little things that make the biggest difference, be consistent with it, and the reward will come ❤️ •

November 15, 2017 was the day my life forever changed. Today marks 2 years since I made the decision to take control of my health. I’ve lost 150lbs and have maintained.
