***** THE FACILITATORS AND IMPLEMENTERS OF THE DESTRUCTION OF SIKHI AND THE PUNJAB - LETS HOPE THEIR FUTURE GENERATIONS DON'T TURN OUT TO BE LIKE THEIR EVIL FOREFATHER'S WERE ***** @sukhbir_singh_badal took to Facebook to congratulate everyone on his son's Anantveer's 18th Birthday and that he wishes he is 'guided by the highest ideals of Guru Sahibaan.' In addition to this, Badal made even more contradictory comments that 'He enjoyed himself as his grandfathers regaled him with stories of their school days and youth. He is blessed to have such great role models to learn from.' It may have been possible or most likely that Sukhbir was under the influence of drugs and alcohol or had eaten too much birthday cake before making these comments on Facebook, as we all know that the Badals are the last people to follow Sikhi let alone follow any ideals that the Gurus implemented during their lifetime. As this is the case, it would be very difficult for Anantveer to learn anything from his father or Grandparents, as all they have followed is the ideals of Hindutva and disgracing Sikhi throughout their entire lives.
Furthermore, the Badals are the last people you would want as role models. The same people that swore oaths and made promises to fight for the Azaadi of the oppressed and then turn their backs in return for personal power and fame went against the hukam of the Guru and gave their lives to the Hindutva regime. Their decisions have destroyed thousands of lives, killed countless innocent people, locked up scores of Sikhs of political conscience and devasted the land of the five rivers.
We truly hope that the future generations of the Badals learn from their families mistake and make a positive change to the people of Punjab, but we will hold our breath as we won't be having any expectations from this family. Whilst they have made this world we live in a paradise for their lives, they will truly suffer at the hands of Dharam Raaj when they leave this earth.

#thelostheer “Karay da barat/varat” was how indigenous Punjabi women referred to the Karwa Chauth fasts for centuries. Before its glamorizations by Bollywood in the 1990s, this fast was observed by married women for the prolonged lives of their husbands. No one knows where and how it originated, but the fast was already being observed in areas neighbouring Punjab by the time Bollywood picked the idea. Deemed misogynistic by both left wing and right wing Punjabi women activists like Ratna Kapur and Madhu Kishwar respectively, the fast is still observed with zeal by countless Punjabi Hindu and Sikh women home and abroad. The views on its observation vary from women to women, but one cannot deny that it gave birth to countless myths, songs, stories and rituals women observe in a female only audience. Many of the Punjabi karwa songs I encountered were not just invocations to a higher power, but were full of dreamy stories shared by sisters and rants about their in laws. They sounded almost universal, but then I encountered this song where a woman addresses the moon not as ‘Chanda mama’ (uncle) but ‘Chann Bharjai” (sister in law)!
