Happy Sunday to you!!
I was looking forward to my summer Sunday early morning run. Mother Nature had other ideas…and that's ok. This girl doesn't like a rainy run, so we REST! WHAT Yes, rest.
Our bodies DO need a rest day to recover the muscles and repair. We have to prepare for the week ahead and tomorrow starts a NEW workout! Only 4 days a week for 30 minutes a day. That leaves you with plenty of time to LIVE your LIFE!! There's still time to join our early access group! Want to know more Message me or comment below because….
I'm just resting……..😀
We are in day 2 of a projected 6 days of rain here in Austin, thanks to #hurricaineharvey...for us it's an inconvenience, a week with no parks and extra water in the streets... but for so many this was catastrophic...and cleanup hasn't even begun. We are praying for everyone affected, and hoping the damage doesn't worsen as the storm wears itself out.
As the chaos of our move has fizzled and some amount of routine has found us in our new home. We have found such great blessing in the slowing down. Time to appreciate the little things...the sound of the rain and drops of water on leaves and little giggles from a toddler and first experiences with new friends. I'm delighted to have a job lined up after just two weeks in town, but even more delighted to have a few more weeks before I start.
This coming season may well be the most taxing and stretching we have ever ventured through, and there are so many unknowns yet to settle...but these past few days I've been reminded about the important foundation of quiet. Before we move into the rush and stress it is so important to lay a groundwork of peace...to connect and play and settle down. I feel like my soul is finally getting nourishment after months of fast food and rations. We are feasting not on exciting, big, shiny new events, but on calm, togetherness, collecting a summers worth of memories and fear, contemplating what's happening inside us and what we need to do with it.
Matt starts classes this week, and I pray that as the wheels of life start to turn us, we find ways to continue to be quiet. That's what the sabbath is all about...rest and replenishment and intentionally putting away the urgent to make room for what is important.
I'm so bad at these sabbath practices...but I pray that this season I can change. That I can learn to be still, to listen, to stop. May you and your family taste a little of the feast today as well. #sabbath #rainydayrest #seasonchange #lakeisabellatoatx #higginsfamilytakesaustin #newseason #presentoverperfect #thankful
A sweet quiet time today where I am reading about Jesus as a child while my own sick girl naps beside of me. Beautiful reminder to treasure moments in motherhood just like Mary did as she watched Jesus grow. #rainydayrest #Luke2 #motherhood
