I've been pretty tired the last few days (which I attribute to the season switching abruptly from summer to winter), but have been trying to keep up some momentum on the bus.
We had taken out the lower part of the bathroom wall so my dad could run the sink drain into the wall.
On Saturday, I fought my exhaustion and put in the wall and trim. Then, as I was nearly done driving in the last nail, I heard the hiss of a punctured water pipe.
I was pissed and disappointed at my mistake.
I took out the wall, accidentally tearing it in the process. My dad patched the pipe Sunday morning and I repeated my work that day, careful not to make the same mistake again.
I have no way of knowing if I'd have made that mistake if I'd been feeling fresh...but it made me wonder.
It's hard to follow the seasons of my own energy sometimes because I, like many, am trained to value productivity and "hard work" over rest.
It's a little crazy to continue that way though, considering the increased likelihood of mistakes when what we really need is rest.
Can you relate

Before and After- Our home was built in 1958. It’s architecture style is between a split level Cape Cod and a Craftsman house. We bought it almost 16 years ago and we have steadily been modernizing the interior and exterior since we moved in. We typically tackle a large project once a year and several smaller ones as well. We are budget conscious and I’ve become budget savvy learning key tricks to the trade along the way. I heard a millennial joke the other day saying that the Baby Boomers had perfectly good hardwood flooring in their homes that was covered with carpet. True! True! In in our case carpet was in most rooms including our stairs, but only the stairs had hardwood underneath. A couple years ago we finally removed the carpet covered stairs and discovered beautiful oak flooring underneath! However, on both landings there was plywood underneath the carpet. We hired a craftsman specializing in restoring wood flooring. He painstaking removed tacks, nails and staples and sanding most everything by hand. For the landings he insisted on us finding planks to match the original floors. Not easy... in the Boomer generation flooring was 2 inches in width and today wood planks are typically 4 inches and wider. We found the flooring to match and we had the craftsman stain and seal the flooring to match the flooring in our living area. The hardest part of this project was withstanding the stain and sealer odors which were very strong. The whole project took about a week of steady work daily. It was necessary for us to move downstairs during the process. So happy with the results and the money we saved not having to replace treads and risers. #beforeandafter #beforeandafterstairs #stairscarpet #1958home #remodeling #oakstairs #babyboomerhomes #redo #lumberliquidators #craftsman #linenpetalsandchalk
Do you remember the feeling when you first move in somewhere and it’s completely empty Or when you’re about to move and you wish you could move back in because it’s empty and clean
💥QUICK TIP: Sometimes if what you’ve got going on isn’t working for you you need to start over. That’s what’s been going on in my kitchen lately. The flow of it just wasn’t working right. So I pulled things out and rearranged a couple cabinets.
Is there an area of your home that feels like it’s working against you not with you Try changing it up! Move out then move back in. See where stuff falls into place the second (or third) time around. 👍

I seriously need to stop procrastinating and paint these cabinets. And that strip of black tile. I’m leaning towards white cabinets, but I think a light gray would be nice too. 🤷🏻♀️ #Redo #Diy #NeedsNewHardwareToo #Kitchen
