Campfire Innovation is saying goodbye.
This ending is bittersweet.
As the conditions for refugees worsen and the rhetoric around migration become more and more hostile, much still needs to be done.
In these difficult times, there are no words to describe how much inspiration, hope and impact citizen initiatives have brought to the field since 2015.
We feel proud of the impact we've had, the projects we’ve completed and the people we mobilised.
More than anything, we are proud of the incredible community of organisations we have been part of and helped build.
Before we go, there are a few people that we need to thank…
We are beyond thankful to the 50+ incredible volunteers that shaped the organisation and were the source of all our energy and achievements.
And none of our work would have been possible without the support we have received from our donors, partners and supporters.
As we move on, all of us will remain committed to dignified and smart aid for all displaced people through our work, studies or volunteering.
Thank you all for trusting our mission and coming on this journey with us.

This is Syria. It's hard for us to imagine what these children go through. A little child so traumatised he doesn't want to let go of the nurse. The sound of the bomb itself are horrifying enough just to hear, but to have it dropped on your homes, to be injured and hit by shrapnel, to have your parents and your siblings killed or injured, it's something that we can never really imagine.
This video itself is not recent but the reality is that every day kids and little babies are being injured and killed and buried under the rubble of their own homes. Every day we are seeing videos of homes destroyed and bodies being pulled out. Many children are orphaned as a result of these bombings.
You can donate to help the people of Syria. Help provide aid to those who are fleeing the recent bombardment and help sponsor orphan children who've lost their parents, your donations go towards their complete care including education.
You can donate any amount by going to the link in my bio.

Before each cultural excursion, we always try to take time to catch up with the young migrants we work with and to introduce them to new #SoulFood members.

“People, including underage minors, have described being tortured with electric shocks, beaten with guns and sticks, or burned with melted plastic. They tell me how they still feel the pain from their wounds and scars sustained during their time in Libya.” - Dr Luca Pigozzi, MSF Medical Doctor, currently on board the Ocean Viking.
The Ocean Viking rescue ship, run by MSF and our partner @sosmediterranee, is currently at sea with 356 vulnerable men, women and children on board. This includes 92 unaccompanied children.
After countless drownings, and countless incidents of arbitrary imprisonment, extortion, forced labour, torture and bombings endured by refugees and migrants in Libya, it’s unfathomable that European authorities are shunning international law.
Instead of assigning our rescue vessel a place of safety for disembarkation of all those onboard, we have been asked by the Libyan Joint Rescue Coordination Centre to take people back to Libya (a move that would break international law, as Libya is not a safe port). European authorities need to step up and take action, to put lives over politics.
In the words of Jay Berger, MSF Project Coordinator onboard the Ocean Viking - “we are now asking for a place of safety to disembark these vulnerable people without delay. They have suffered enough.” To find out more about what’s happening to head to the link in our bio.

Thank you @malala 🤝
“Many people think refugees should feel only two things: gratitude towards the countries that granted them asylum and relief to be safe. I don’t think most people understand the tangle of emotions that comes with leaving behind everything you know. They are not only fleeing violence - which is why so many are forced to leave, and is what’s shown on the news - but they are escaping their countries, their beloved homes. That seems to get lost in the conversation about refugees and internally displaced people. So much focus is on where they are now - not on what they have lost as a result.”

They look at me today and only think of my disability. They don’t know the other version of me.
I used to be strong, stronger than what I am today. Today I feel like a burden on my family and people around me since I can’t walk. However, I still have hope, and that’s the only thing I live for.
My dream is to walk and to be able to do everything myself. To work and live my life without relying on others.
My dream is to live in a country where I am respected.
You know what After everything I have passed through, I think I will understand other people’s pain, and one day when I can walk, I will help all those who can't
NO ONE IS ILLEGAL ON STOLEN LAND | This collection is dedicated to all of the immigrants and children of immigrants that come to America for a “better life”. The ones that sacrifice their lives to get here. The ones that do the shitty jobs that no one wants to do & get paid pennies for it. The ones that shape this country. You belong here💕 #refugees #immigration #immigrants #usa

Two players stretch on the field before a game against the Oricola team. Some dreams take years of hard work to achieve. Others require long, dangerous journeys, by sea or over land. In Rome, the football club Liberi Nantes cultivates dreams of both kinds. Founded in 2007 as a response to racism within the Italian football world, it is the country’s first sports team formed entirely of refugees and asylum seekers, competing in the “Terza Categoria,” the ninth level of the Italian football league system. The goal is to offer participants the chance to engage with the country they are trying to call home, as well as to connect with others who have escaped similar situations of war, poverty and persecution, often risking their lives to get here.
