This morning she smashed 60kg rack pulls for 5 reps and 40kg landmine rows, 12.5kg chest press and lots more and she was grinning from ear to ear with the progress she is making

Its easy to become a bit disillusioned with life in the gym when you are staring at a blank wall for 40 minutes on a treadmill, not feeling any fitter than the previous weeks, just sweaty and bored

Weight training along with cardio and core work are a great foundation to fun training sessions, where you see regular progress, feel fitter, stronger and actually look forward to going to

Progress in the short term is never linear, but be sure, that if you are putting in those hours, you are achieving far more than you realise. Take a look at that bigger picture and be proud with what you've achieved!

The peaks and troughs of body composition, energy, strength, focus….etc are immediately frustrating, but keep your eyes fixed on that finish line, DO NOT DEVIATE and success will be yours!

I haven’t shared much about it on social media for a few reasons that are mostly grounded in allowing myself space & time to process this freak accident and physical trauma. 🙇🏼‍♀️🙏🏼⁣

I’d be lying if I said this didn’t throw me for a loop, absolutely shake up my day to day life, and challenge me mentally more than I’d like. It’s really impacted me big time. ⁣

One of the ways I know? Comfort food and emotional eating abound. 🍕🥰⁣

𝐈 𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐠𝐨 😳⁣ ⁣ I haven’t shared much about it on social media for a few reasons that are mostly grounded in allowing myself space & time to process this freak accident and physical trauma. 🙇🏼‍♀️🙏🏼⁣ ⁣ I’d be lying if I said this didn’t throw me for a loop, absolutely shake up my day to day life, and challenge me mentally more than I’d like. My two top tips for surviving until Monday with destroying a weeks worth of progress

1) prepare to succeed - plan what you are going to eat and when. People often get caught without a plan at the weekend because they are out and about. Put more thought into what food you need and when then make and prepare it.

2) prepare for 'failure' - set calories aside for a 'treat' as you will most likely find yourself craving especially if you are at a social event, but make it a controlled failure. Prepare for it and steer into the skid.

As you can see preparation is key. Have a good weekend and have fun.

Everyone getting ready for the weekend

When you are super stressed, struggling with anxiety and just not feeling you, the idea of exercise seems like another pressure.

However, don’t underestimate what a walk, weights session, group training session, run or really any form of activity will do for how you are feeling. Don’t underestimate how much it will pick you up and lower your stress levels (maybe not get rid of your stress completely) however it can give you a little more mental clarity and energy to reset and tackle your day again.

Babies are treasured for being covered with dimples, and having chunky thighs and double chins, and being soft and squishy — the fatter, the better. People see a fat baby and they say, “omg! they’re so cute!” “they’re so squishy!” “I just wanna gobble ‘em up!” ⁣

But when we become adults suddenly fatness means guilt, and judgement, and shame. ⁣

People see a fat adult and say “they’re lazy,” or “they’re lost all control,” or “they’ve let themselves go.” ⁣

Sometimes the irony of our society really dawns on me and it pains me to know that there are so many people existing in a world of hurt because of the belief systems of others. 💔⁣

Every coach should have their own coach, and I feel so lucky to get to work with one of the best in the industry. I have missed having my personal training sessions with @kelvingary while on the road and getting settled back into NYC life. But today I made my way back to @bodyspacenyc to resume my training sessions with my coach! And it felt so good. I was toast by the end, but man, it felt good to be back with a coach who is genuinely stoked to get me moving better and experiment when things don’t go as planned! In my sessions, I learn not only about challenging my body, but I get to pick up tips (and steal moves) to coach my own clients! It’s one of my favorite times of the week! Yesterday’s self-care: a warm latte with lots of cinnamon dusted on top, in my favorite local coffee shop, with a cheery red mug that told me just what I’ve needed to hear lately, “be bright.” 🌟⁣

When my days and weeks get busy it’s easy for me to sip a coffee gone cold between clients and forget that the light I shine is a beacon to others. To shine brightly I’ve got to take care of myself. ☝🏼💖⁣

Which meant settling into a cozy couch in a coffee shop and drinking in this crafted coffee and all that came with it. It’s one of my absolutely favorite things to do and it gives me a space to gather my thoughts and align myself for action. 🙏🏼💫⁣
