My back was feeling a lot better yesterday so I had a go at my regular push routine, just dropped the weights to compensate. Also a great feeling when you get too hot in the gym and then realise you have a pair of shorts in your bag.

I'm baaaack!! Awesome Saturday workout. And I have a confession. Lately I've been not quite pleased with my "physique". 🙄 I just get these flashback pictures and sometimes I think, I'm no more muscular or cut than last year. My muscles aren't fuller or bigger. (Truthfully it just depends on the day, or the workout I get done that day.) But. I have been just as consistent and I'm super pleased with my body's performance. I feel strong, I'm moving a ton of weight, I feel healthy, and I feel like I'm living a life that I can sustain and enjoy. I have a relatively healthy relationship with food, and I usually sleep like a baby. I also have 3 kids and a busy full time job that I also have to try and keep up with. I'm baaaack!! Awesome Saturday workout. And I have a confession. Lately I've been not quite pleased with my "physique". 🙄 I just get these flashback pictures and sometimes I think, I'm no more muscular or cut than last year. My muscles aren't fuller or bigger. (Truthfully it just depends on the day, or the workout I get done that day.) But. I have been just as consistent and I'm super pleased with my body's performance. I feel strong, I'm moving a ton of weight, I feel healthy, and I feel like I'm living a life that I can sustain and enjoy. Push ups are amazing for upper body strength - it's so important for women especially & great for pregnant women. But men also can definitely benefit. There are options for beginners as in the picture. The biggest mistake most people make is dipping their head. It's so important to keep the spine in a straight line. Getting your chin to the floor does NOT make it easier or get you lower... It just strains your neck unnecessarily... So let's get pushing - lots of options to step up the easiest version for when you get stronger. Just tucking your elbows in or taking 1 leg bent in the air gets it working. There are options for beginners as in the picture. The biggest mistake most people make is dipping their head. It's so important to keep the spine in a straight line. Excuse my language all the way through. Pretty much exhausted by this stage building up but I promised myself last week that I would hit 48kg, even 1 rep .....and I got 3, so bloody chuffed. Got greedy and wanted 49kg. Probably more tired than anything but still got 2 reps. Happy happy happy. 51st birthday in around 14 weeks. That's my target.. .. 51kgs by my 51st birthday. Clip 2- Incorrect way of doing a shrug but what I see so many people doing. Swinging the shoulders round in a circle. Uncontrolled and little to no contraction of the muscle. KNOW - BENCH ANGLE

Many people don’t realize how much of a difference in angle on a bench can make.
A 30 degree incline will target different muscle fibers than a 60 degree angle.

The greater the angle the more your shoulders get involved with the exercise.
-
The chest will always get engaged as a whole while chest pressing, but as you adjust bench angles you will target the muscle fibers differently.
-
Play around with bench angles next time in the gym and see where you feel the most activation in the body part you are trying to target.

The struggle is real, making conscious efforts to stay on track is tough and needs to be made on the daily.
