It was a beautiful day in the Sierra Foothills! And its John Muir's 180th birthday!
Here’s one our favorite quotes from him. "Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality."
Had a fabulously fun day with John And Gail Slot photographing wildflowers and other natural beauty we are surrounded with here in the foothills and mountains of N. Calif. see my stories for a look at the poppies putting on a show for you.
We hope you can join us tomorrow evening! Join @_.ziima._ for a journey into the dream realm where insight and understanding are found, supported by heart-opening cacao, healing sounds and sacred music ✨
Extreme pleasure of the day 14-16/37: on the way up to Oregon House we stopped in Sacramento to pick up cheese (Alp Blossom and a Jurassian cheese to pair with our Jurassian wine) and to pay homage at Corti Bros and, inevitably, pick up some preserved seafood, as one does at Corti. Our host’s ten year old (a sliver of whom is visible on the left) tried—and loved—boquerones for the first time today. She also schooled us on the differences of the last few years of their home-made and home-grown olives and the delicate art of taming an energetic vineyard dog.
Extreme pleasures of the day 6-9/37: two bottles of our host’s wine and one bottle of Jurassian lightning we brought with us. All were humming with life and bore a mark of the places they came from. There’s something odd and wonderful and mind-bending and perfect about drinking a wine in the vineyard it came from. I kept smelling the wine, then the air, and then back to the wine again, trying to discern the connection between them. The Overnoy (for the uninitiated, the bottle in the middle is an epically sought-after wine geek grail) was unexpectedly (but not surprisingly) youthful in its teen-hood and one of the most special moments of the day was when our host’s 10 year old daughter tasted the Overnoy which is older than she is, and announced she didn’t care for it too much but thought that “that arbois wine” (perfect pronunciation of course) was quite similar to one of her dad’s wines, which she does like.
Extreme pleasure of today 1/37: friends and I were treated to some home-cured and home-grown olives at Clos Saron in a makeshift end-of-the-day picnic where we meditated on the events of the day, the state of wine, & the life of a vigneron as the sun set with some good things to drink and to eat.
Happy California Native Plant week!
“C’est Si Bon” translates to “It’s so good!” This #wine is a blend made from varietals indigenous to the #RhôneValley in Southern France - #Grenache, #Mourvedre, #Syrah, and #Cinsault. These same grapes have proven to also grow remarkably well in the #terroir of the #SierraFoothills in #California.
We love offering this #winebytheglass because it pairs beautifully with an array of our beef, pork, lamb, and other hearty dishes due to its medium body that is amazingly well balanced with lively fruit, soft tannins, and bright acidity. Once in the glass, this #redwine leads with intriguing aromas of strawberry, blackberry, French herbs, pomegranate, and earthy spice. With each sip, you’ll enjoy vibrant flavors of plum, raspberry, and dried currant. Subtle minerality leads to a silky, sensuous mouthfeel and genuinely long finish. A perfect marriage of depth, balance, and finesse.
Come raise a glass of 🍷 with us soon!

This view from my deck could never get old ✨ Tree covered hills, Father Sun in the East, and my flowering, sticky, fragrant sage 🌸
New moon feels after an intense couple of weeks. I am realizing more and more how important it is to be vulnerable, reach out, and get support wherever you can find it. Setting the intention to create and seek out more spaces for connection🦋 .
This was from our “kids” craft day that eventually turned into an all ages wreath making workshop. Thankful for this growing community and to be apart of the Youth Alliance🍃

What makes our infamous El Dorado Passport panini Applewood (from the orchard) smoked pork tenderloin, rosemary from the garden tossed in charred sweet onions, fresh sage aioli and melting Havarti on organic sourdough😋🍷
