Matthew 25:3-4 (NKJV)
3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Remember the parable Jesus told about the ten virgins. Five were wise and five foolish. Five had oil, and five had neglected to fill their lamps. According to the Gospel of Matthew 25:1-13, the five bridesmaids who are prepared for the bridegroom's arrival are rewarded, while the five who are not prepared are left behind.
At midnight the bridegroom Christ came; although the bridesmaids all had trimmed their lamps, the five foolish had no oil. They begged for oil, but the wise couldn’t give up their own oil. They didn’t ask for salvation; they asked for oil. Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you (Matthew 25:8,9). What was the oil those five wise bridesmaids had It was oil of the Holy Spirit that let them go out to meet the bridegroom. Everyone must have this oil if he or she expects to be taken with Jesus in the day of Jesus return. We are foolish not to have the oil— let’s make sure we know what the oil is and that we have it.
Keeping your lamps lit means having your mind alert and tuned into Jesus, ready to hear him. Keeping them full of oil means preparing in advance, by storing in your mind knowledge of Scripture and similar things. In our lives the oil of preparedness is accumulated drop by drop in righteous living." This is one interpretation. The foolish virgins are not lost, they are still virgins, but in this parable, they miss the coming of the Lord (Left Behind). oil represents the holy ghost. 🪔 🕯🔥🙏🏻🙌🏻 _______________________________________________

Thirty-eight years ago you came into this world in a small cabin in the mountains on the coldest day in a hundred years. It was a gray day, the ground covered in a thick layer of snow, the world silent and still. I was one of the first people to hold you. You were a gift. You have always been brilliant and strong, independent and sensitive, and a champion for others. You see exquisite, quiet, beauty in the smallest of details. You are an artist in every sense of the word, building and creating a life for you and your family, raising a son to be a person who sees strength and value in all human beings, but especially in the woman he so lovingly calls mom. You’re a painter, a writer, a photographer, capturing moments in ways others can’t even imagine. You make the world a better place not only because of your presence, but because of what you contribute. This is your year. Thank you for being trustworthy, kind, compassionate, empathetic, and loving. That is a rare and beautiful thing. ❤️
