Throwing in some new moves today. With a double pause deadlift, one pause during the ascent at just below the knee, then another pause on the descent just above the knee. Not sure how long I’ll keep this one in, but increased time under tension can’t be a bad thing.

Also finding new ways to use the new tire sled. Grab a dip belt and some chains and go for a really slow walk. I may have to improve the design to stop weights falling off, and also make the chain a little longer… Sled drags are a surprisingly killer calf workout too.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about training or since I’ve posted at all really. Work had slightly taken over my social media 😞 I love using this to share new programming and personal bests because a lot of the time it takes a lot of effort to reach this PBs 💪🏻 I’ve had 2 weeks off from training due to being ill and run down 🤢😴 but this week I’m back and it feels great!!! Movements are feeling better and I’m feeling much stronger 😄 I’ve been on the Power Programme with @fitnessculturetraining and I absolutley love it. It’s everything I LOVE!! It’s strong compound movements as well as dynamic movements keeping me strong, powerful and Fit which is just 👌🏻 great! This programme has doubled my confidence in hitting set numbers weekly and pushing beyond what I think I can do within my first 8 weeks I went from a 40kg bench press to a 50kg bench press 🙌🏻🙌🏻 it might have even provided me with the confidence to start looking into building my technique in Olympic lifting 😬 we shall see why new year resolutions I come up with this year 😅 #training #strengthtraining #strong #strongwomen #stronglifts #liftingheavy #womenwholift #powerlifting #powerprogramme #strengthtraining #squats #squatsquatsquat #ladieswholift #gymlife #effloresce #puregym #workoutmotivation #inspiration

Well guess what @evita.monita, it’s your turn today! I honestly don’t remember how we started talking in that restaurant (surely food related matters), but I’m sure glad we did!! Who knew that a motorbike lift and another too short encounter later (where this beautiful smile was captured), our fates would be irreversibly tangled and that we would be in many of the same places but at slightly different times, bonding over tax and business matters and the essentiality of switching up your positions when working in front of the screen a lot ( #squatsquatsquat) and that we would end up meeting again in Vietnam a year later to finally sit down and have the time to speak until our vocal chords were tired?? Better than perfect timing -post (Link: annapriewasser . tumblr . com) - March 2018 Pai, Thailand - Well guess who just sent me a message today, including a photo from the restaurant where we first met in Pai all this time ago YES - Eva, this lovely lady🤗❤️ - Well guess what @evita.monita, it’s your turn today! I honestly don’t remember how we started talking in that restaurant (surely food related matters), but I’m sure glad we did!! Who knew that a motorbike lift and another too short encounter later (where this beautiful smile was captured), our fates would be irreversibly tangled and that we would be in many of the same places but at slightly different times, bonding over tax and business matters and the essentiality of switching up your positions when working in front of the screen a lot ( #squatsquatsquat) and that we would end up meeting again in Vietnam a year later to finally sit down and have the time to speak until our vocal chords were tired I sure couldn’t have guessed that, but I’m truly grateful 🤗❤️🔥 #tomuchmoretocome #mesolucky

There are so many variations of a particular exercise. If you are experiencing pain during a back squat. Try placing the load in the front. The load will be in the front thus preventing less of the load to be on your back. Also during this lift you will drive your knees outward to maintain an upright position!

Why the Safety Bar?

Using the Safety Bar almost forces me into the “perfect” squat form. (Perfect is in parentheses being that we all have different anatomies and there really is no “perfect” form.) Using the safety bar also allows for your torso to remain upright. Recent research and EMG data also shows that upper and mid-back musculature is more active during safety bar squat vs the traditional barbell back squat. 
It feels similar to doing an extremely heavy dumbbell goblet squat in my opinion. Long term use of the safety bar squat may also be beneficial in correcting posture as well. Don’t just take my word for it though - there’s a great research study by @bretcontreras1 titled “A Comparison of Gluteus Maximus, Biceps Femoris, and Vastus Lateralis Electromyography Amplitude in the Parallel, Full, and Front Squat Variations in Resistance-Trained Females” - I found it highly informative.

Good morning and happy Thursday 🙂

I have added some form tips onto each workout on each video so if you like that and want me to keep doing that, let me know!

Squats have been feelin real good and so have hip thrusts.

During this reverse I am really going to focus on getting my squat, deadlift and hip thrust up to some heavy weight.
I have started the candito 6 week strength program just to make sure I’m pushing myself each session and to have some guidelines to follow
