a common discussion in residency's been the intimidating struggle of how to structure/fill time when for the first and perhaps only time in most of our lives are we allowed to. we take it for granted that this is such a rare opportunity, but I think the #therapeutic possibilities of questioning this are astounding, especially in a culture so intentionally discouraging and terrified of #stillness/ #silence - we underestimate how much information it holds. we dont trust it "contributes" to the group.
because well-cared for and rested, self-loving and trusting people isn't priority to a "well-functioning" community! because the innovation that comes with time to prioritize rethinking over production is not as valuable as being able to keep making millions of the same thing! but the intent of this post -
for me its always been the time either before bed the night before or in the morning to let my head wander - #altarwork, #bodying, #collagework, #walking - to watch, maybe write down the things that crop up in my attention - the tasks that nag at me, the curiosities that excite me, the fears that crave outlet. if i'm still feeling a lot of pressure on myself i dont write anything down and limit myself to only what i can remember from the wandering. no adding on later. especially in high school i loved lists and to do lists and i suspect that'll always be a part of me but they were much better suited for a lifestyle directed by other people's requests for me, not of learning to trust myself and body. the most important things my body will always remind me of, if i just shut up with the commands enough to listen.
Stillness inside and out is easier when the surroundings are influencing you to slow down and calmly observe.
This 300 year old Banyan tree had a powerful presence. It was so powerful that I managed to sit still long enough to take this picture 😂 which might not sound impressive but anyone that knows me will vouch for my tendency for restlessness and hyperactivity.

Today was an intense day. My whole life here is very intense.
After a sleepless night full of Journaling and Knowledgebombs (I love this word, thx Piper ❤️) I finally went to the white Buddha (after 5 weeks in Pai). On every stair I said my Mantra: Yam. It's the Mantra for Anahata, unconditional love and an open heart. Kneeling at this place where so many people prayed before me, I realized that I haven't sat down to meditate in stillness for way too long. I meditate through movement and my senses a lot, but to just sit with myself without any distraction is another thing. So I went to the forest behind the statue, found a quiet place and sat.
Nature and stillness give me so much energy. That is where I find the source of my love. I'm very grateful to learn all those things about myself, I start to understand how I work. That makes me more gentle with myself and helps me a lot to interact with others.
