Throughout my pregnancy this has only been reaffirmed in my mind with how insane it is that we carry and nurture life within life. This journey has also unfortunately also left a massive hole in my heart that as women & society some of us still have such a way to go when it comes to lifting each other up, providing useful and positive advice and support or comments. and I am more driven than ever to continue to develop my womens bespoke program to support pregnant mummas to be in 2020. For now here’s just a few that you can all do if you know a stunning Mumma to be
✨ Ask how she is doing not just how her pregnancy is ✨ be aware that just like every human, every pregnancy is different, every pregnant body is different and every baby is different ✨ uplift her with a positive experience rather than flood her with YOUR* (remember point above) negative experiences ✨ Think before you speak, just like with everyone we only see the surface and not their full story so be sure to remind yourself of this before you bring up opinions on certain topics
✨last of all just check in with her, many new mums especially can feel uncertain about loads of things and often I here they struggle to have those around to relate to. We all have two ears and one mouth so if nothing else provide space for her to reach out. ✨and mummas - feel empowered by your intuition to know what and what not you are capable of. You are still your own beautiful person! ⠀⠀

My absolute worst fear is that my children will make a poor decision that costs them their lives. We can do everything possible as parents to instill certain values into our children, but when it comes down to it, they make their own choices. There has been way too much violence in the areas surrounding my hometown since we've moved back, and it not only makes me incredibly sad, but also scared. Scared that my children could be next....Angry with myself for thinking that moving back here would be best for my kids. Please say some prayers for our community. Last night, my son's friend was shot and killed. My daughter's friend and another boy were also shot. Pray for the parents that have to bury their daughter, the boys that have to deal with the emotional and physical trauma, and the friends that are there through it all.
EDITED: It just came out that her friend was not shot. He was in the vehicle with the other two that were shot and got injured in the crash.
Chronic #stress is a major cause of inflammation in the brain and body. Relentless emotional, physical, and psychological stress promotes unchecked inflammation and contributes to cognitive dysfunction, pain, mood disorders and a risk of many chronic and #autoimmune illnesses.
Stress management techniques like #mindfulness #meditation are crucial for managing inflammation overall and specifically for brain health, healthy aging and mental health. A regular meditation practice allows you to improve focused attention, positively shift your mood, enhance awareness and improve overall health and is part of my daily routine. These brain-protective benefits of meditation might be related to neuroplastic changes in the structure and function of brain regions involved in the regulation of attention, emotion, and self-awareness which occur in those who meditate regularly (Tang, Holzel & Posner, 2015). Even with everything that is going on this #holiday season, try adding in some time for nurturing your #innerpeace!
*Say no and set boundaries to choose where you spend your energy. Setting limits or saying no to activities, interactions and work that depletes or harms you physically, emotionally or spiritually shows self-love and compassion and helps you to avoid and manage stress. This is especially relevant to remember during this busy holiday season.
*Prioritize down time. Take a few seconds to watch this calming video. Try adding in 10 minutes each day to sit quietly without distractions and allow yourself to simply be present. You may find it easier to start by taking time to focus on a simple guided meditation (I have some on my website). When you are ready to disconnect further, find a quiet place to be alone and turn off all distractions like your phone, computer and tv. Close your eyes and do nothing but breathe quietly in stillness.

Early 2019 Amy would have stubbornly ran anyway, doing further damage to her body. Good thing Late 2019 Amy is much wiser and has decided to not run on Sunday. A tough decision, made much easier when I remembered I was signed up to run the @santahustle 5k next weekend. After talking with Adam last night to see if he’d be cool with him running the 5k with the kids that morning, we agreed that it was a no brainer for me to sign up for their half marathon distance next weekend- I get to give my body the time to rest up and still get my race in. Win/Win.

A look inside my fridge. I find it so helpful to have at least my breakfasts and lunches prepped because mornings are a mad dash at my house. Grab and go is the only way to make sure I eat properly throughout the day and at this time of year especially meal prepping is critical if you want to keep off extra pounds! I'm not saying I won't sneak in the odd shortbread from the lunchroom, but I'll definitely ask myself if I ate out of my containers first. It makes no sense to work hard all year to get "fitish" just so I can pack it all back on over the next 3 weeks of festivities. Anyone else agree

Every morning after my oldest gets on the bus, we briskly walk to the corner, our neighborhood is a loop, so we can wave good-bye one more time. Well, we haven't made it the last few days because of all the ice. This morning my toddler starts yelling, "Sissy, I'm coming! Wait for me!" as soon as the bus took off. 💔 It was so cute that I mustered the energy to RUN up the street and around the corner, about a third of a mile, in FULL snow gear, so we could wave one more time. And you know what We made it just in time. It was worth it just to see the smiles on both their faces.
Have you ever tried to lose weight and thought that meant eating salads, twigs, and cardboard I don’t know about you but I’d much prefer a no-salad way to lose weight where I see the scale heading in the right direction AND I don’t feel deprived of the flavors and foods I love.⠀
