🚨The Grudge Reboot Casts Insidious Star Lin Shaye🚨 -
The upcoming reboot of The Grudge has added a horror icon to the cast, as Lin Shaye is announced as the latest addition to the film. Shaye is best known as ghost-busting psychic Elise Rainier in the Insidious films, and will be joining an already impressive line-up for the film that hopes to revive the American branch of the J-horror franchise. A reimagining of the franchise has been in development for some time and finally entered pre-production stages when director Nicolas Pesce was tapped to helm the film in an announcement last year. The confirmation then came that shooting would start in May of this year, which has led to a number of recent casting announcements. the latest addition to The Grudge family is the prolific genre actress Shaye. The details of the character she will be playing are not yet known. Despite a long and varied career in comedy and drama, Shaye has become something of a “scream queen” appearing in many horror films like the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, along with countless others including the recent Ouija movies. Shaye is joining a very strong cast that already includes Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, and John Cho. Producer Sam Raimi previously praised the script, which has been re-worked by Pesce, and claimed it will bring a fresh perspective to the well-worn tale. Riseborough is known to be playing a character who is a detective as well as a single mother, and this could provide the springboard for a more intense take on the expected hauntings. Cho has had recent demonic experiences in the TV series of The Exorcist, and Bichir has just finished playing a priest in the Conjuring-spinoff The Nun.

I settled for it as a WIP due to tight deadlines. A piece on the unseen hallucinations of an acid trip. "this gross feeling of being really aware of my skull in my head, and rubbing my hands on my face and all my senses were so like on alert that just the feeling of my fingers on my face felt so intense, like my skin was like grating off or something..."

March Movie Madness Challenge
Day 20: Remakes Aren't Always Bad
The Grudge: there was a point in time where a lot of people liked to shit on this movie, but it actually holds up really well. Sarah Michelle Gellar brings a lot of legitimacy to the film and the way that it's structured is rather atypical, leaving us with a really creepy, highly stylized horror movie.
House of Wax: like The Grudge, this movie was on everyone's radar of films to trash. But people seemed to overlook the time and care that was given to making this movie truly special. It has a seriously solid script, highly relatable characters, and some awesome practical effects. Without question, one of my favourite films from the last 20 years.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: for years, I held this film responsible for introducing us to the onslaught of shitty horror remakes. It wasn't until I watched it again about a year ago that I realized how wrong I was. Despite being one of the forerunners in the horror remake craze, TCM is actually an incredible film. It is incredibly tense, beautifully shot, and really well written. It's a shame I overlooked it for so many years.
