This is the most consequential building in Los Angeles. More than any museum or skyscraper. More, even, than the Music Center.
Before Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles was characterized as 40 suburbs in search of a city.
But from the day of its opening, Dodger Stadium gave Los Angeles a center, a focal point, its uniting symbol. Los Angeles became a city culturally as well as geographically.
From its hilltop site half a mile north of City HallI, its sky blue exterior has a commanding view of Downtown L.A.
On summer nights its arc lights, like a beacon, shine to the outer reaches of the city.
And Southern Californians, no matter their age or background, no matter their culture, have at least one thing in common. They share the experience and memories of afternoons and evenings in this stadium on a hill, cheering for Dodger Blue.

Tommy Lasorda received the "Community Hero Award" this evening at the 15th annual Sharefest Gala. At 91 years of age he took the stage and rapped with Los Angeles city councilman, Joe Buscaino about his 70 year career with the Dodgers and his love for our LA communities. Sharefest has been committed to working in LA's neglected neighborhoods to empower youth, transransform communities, and deliver hope. I was honored to have a seat at LA County Supervisor, Janice Hahn's table for the event. A huge thank you to Harbor Area Director @erika_velazquez for the invite! ❤😊
