A huge gitchi-miigwech to Maria Olivero and the awesome Grade 11 World Religion class at St. FX. She just sent me these photos. I just loved all of the questions from these opened minded individuals. It’s always so wonderful to share space and beliefs, despite differences. After our time “was up”, the second photo shows a group of lovely individuals continuing to ask me questions. Sadly I eventually had to pry myself away to get back to the office. I could honestly have these discussions all day long.
I quote a beautiful and emotional young lady saying, “you should be a motivator speaker.” Beauty, that’s why I make time to do this important work. If I can assist you in remembering Why you are here, I’ve lived a good life.

I wanted to show you the evolution of the corner cutting tool 3d-printed by iBookBinding. It all began when I was teaching a weekly bookbinding class for 7-14-year-olds. Quite understandably, I didn't want these children to have a chance of cutting fingers while making book covers. The first few photos show these original tools.
As you can see in the fourth photo, they were absolutely functional right from the start. Resulting turn-ins near the corners of the covers were perfect. And I should remind you that these first photos are from one of the workshops with kids!
But as I'm always looking for ways to improve my designs, the process that lasted for several years has begun. Pretty soon, I switched to a shape that is more like the one sold today (6th photo). It didn't have the numbers imprinted on the surface but had this more curved shape.
There were some more steps in the middle. But the current version seems to be the one that will last for long (last photo). The jigs are printed in multiple sizes starting from 1-mm-thick wall to 1/4". So they can suit any type of cardboard you may use and even thicker composite covers. The sizes are imprinted on the jigs making it easy to distinguish between the sizes.
As usual, you can choose out of almost 20 colors for your order to be printed with. Check the link in bio for more details!
Taking some pointers from the great @pekovichwoodworks and making a mock-up before I start cutting joinery. This will be a small box to house my @lienielsentoolworks honing guide and detachable jaws. 😎
