ONE FOR THE BUCKETLIST…MELBOURNE!☕️🎭👗
Melbourne is the cultural hub of Australia and a popular travel destination for sport, art and food lovers. It’s also home to our very own Squirrls! Ranked the world’s most liveable city from 2010 to 2017, there’s a reason why visitors never want to leave. Here are our top 6 places to visit:
1. FEDERATION SQUARE.
Federation Square is Melbourne's iconic meeting place and a hub for food, arts and events. Located across the road from the historic Flinders Station, you will find the Ian Potter Centre, Australian Centre for Moving Image, markets and dining choices.
In the CBD, art extends beyond the galleries and into the small laneways that run through the city. Each laneway hides a treasure trove of secret bars, galleries and other surprises. Our favourites are Hardware Lane, AC/DC Lane, Degraves St, Meyers Place and Hosier Lane.
3. QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET.
The Queen Victoria Market is a major landmark and the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also the most intact surviving 19th century market in the city and was recently added to the National Heritage List.
If you’re looking for sophistication, head to Southbank where you will find theatres, breweries, clubs, food courts, designer shops and the sprawling Crown Casino complex. The lively riverside promenades feature al fresco dining and bars.
5. ST KILDA.
Jump on Melbourne’s iconic 96 tran and head to eclectic St Kilda where you will find backpackers, families and joggers converge on the Esplanade and Melbourne’s most famous beach. Have some fun at Luna Park, catch a gig at the Palais Theatre, or enjoy the various restaurants and cake shops on Acland and Carlisle streets.
6. YARRAVILLE VILLAGE.
Only 6 kms west from Melbourne’s CBD, Yarraville is as close as you will get to a country vibe in an inner city location. In the village you’ll find a quaint collection of shops, bookstores, restaurants and the Art Deco Sun Theatre which spills out onto a closed off public space which serves as a popular meeting spot for locals. Best of all, Yarraville is the birth home of Squirrls.
