Mont Blanc and Grand Jorasses (Pointe Walker). A sweeping view from Grand Chenalette near Great Saint Bernard pass on the border between Italy and Switzerland #peakvisor
Day 3 & 4 at #Phuktal Gompa led to another #meditation and #healing journey as we decided to trek over a mile to the #Stupa above the cave monastery. It was the most challenging, dangerous yet rewarding #trek thus far and spotted Snow Leopard and #Himalayan Ibex tracks. The area was sandstone with nesting holes for black crows that flew above the monastery. This was a less traveled route made by the monks. There was only space for one foot on the path at certain places and one missed step and we are history! We engraved our names and date on the sandstone rock with other carved names and after reached the Stupa (14,000ft), after over 2hrs, rested, took in the amazing scenery of the #magnificent geological rock formations and then made our way back to the #monastery and crystal clear blue glacial waters of the #Tsarap #river. We got to witness carpenters preparing the Phuktal for Rinpoche Ngari Tseang (brother of #DalaiLama) and visited the school and it was lovely to see the #student #monks learning the #Tibetan Boti language and #Hindi
The next day, we set off early morning for the return 18km trek from Phuktal Gompa to Dolma where we began our #journey It was fortunate we left early as it had started to rain and conditions on the trek were slippery. Arrived 4hr 25min later with our driver Dawa waiting for us and set off to #Padum and stayed $Kailash hotel in where we were served some delicious food (Hot n sour soup, pakoras, #vegetable pastry, #veggie & cheese momo’s and veggie noodles!) This trip was definitely one to remember. It opened our eyes to the lives of #Buddhist monks, practice of deep meditation and helped us #reflect on how we live in our day to day lives.
