This particular tomato is doing surprisingly well considering it was a dried up stick in the bargain section at the local nursery. (Cost $1) With a bit of TLC its now is producing these lovely pinkish red fruits. 👌🏻❤️ I think the variety was called ‘lolly’ but of course I have lost the label 🤷🏼♀️😜🍅 #lolly #wetweather
What to do on rainy days! Check on our Aussie natives. In order of the photos. Midyim berry is a perfect replacement for blueberries, nice shrub which you can prune for dense growth. Native parsley is a fantastic ground cover. From Emu foot grass you can harvest the seeds to replace poppy seeds. You can cut the fresh tips from Ruby salt bush to add to your salad. This tray is full of manuka honey melaluca's which took forever to sprout! A river mint seedling grown from a cutting. And our first time growing original Bauple nut trees from seed. That's the first one up over night. All of these plants can be part of a Polyculture farm.
Enjoy the rain!

Broccoli Rabe, sometimes referred to as Rapini, is not a member of the Broccoli family at all, even though it looks like it! I grew this for the first time in 2018 and we all loved the tender, slightly peppery, small stalks and they (including the leaves) are wonderful in stir fries with butter, garlic, and your favorite spicy pepper. As a plant, it is full of antioxidants vitamins A and C which fight off free radicals that can damage our cells - thus helping to prevent cancer...It is also full of Folate, Potassium, Fiber and Calcium. So yep! I’ll be starting these in the green house soon. Do you know of any other slightly unusual, star-performing vegetables or herbs that I should consider We are expanding our growing area by 3x this year and I’d love to hear your favorites. 🍅🥬🥒🍆🥕🥦🌽
P.S. Botanical Interests is a great seed company that I have used many times in the past. As an artist I love the drawings on their seed packets, not only because they are beautiful but also because they clearly depict what the plant will look like! Always helpful when you are growing something new. Swipe left. #notsponsored
Waiting ever so patiently for this dude Dan to get some fancy tail feathers in like my late boy Freddy had... Granted, Freddy was a much more colorful and fancy bird than Dan is. Fred was a beautiful Easter Egger ( #FredricoAndWilma reminiscence with me) and Dan is a Blue Orpington. Dan molted this years feathers awhile ago but still has yet to sprout those beautiful long tail feathers I’ve been dying to see! 😍🐓
