I spent so many years trying to fit the mold of what I thought was normal. I tried to dull my shine because I was afraid I would be seen as weird, over-the-top, or too bold. After a while I realized that those things I thought would make me an outcast are actually what make me special, and until I learned to embrace them myself, I wasn’t able to be vulnerable with others. I’m still this way at times. I know now that opening myself up to others, even though it’s one of the most difficult things to do in life, is vital to living it fully.
