Raw take: July 17th, 2019. I stared a coma/death in the face.
This was my 7th attempt: 240 lb. From attempts 3 through 7, I was experiencing more and more numbness from holding my breath too long.
Usually that means swaying around a bit, struggling to maintain balance.
This I felt myself on the brink of blacking out and collapsing, probably hitting my head in the process. I wouldn’t be here telling you this.
If you’ve ever seen someone who suffers from cerebral palsy - that’s what this looked like. My hands were twitching, I stumbled away from the bar, and I couldn’t walk steadily. I could barely see with my vision going blurry and black.
Thankfully, this only lasted for 20 seconds. But, this is what happens when you lose 15 lb to stress and you don’t eat from lack of appetite. It’s dangerous.
To all of you who exert yourselves, please be careful. Eat enough, sleep enough, and take care of your body and mind. There’s only one of each of you. Stay frosty.

#nsv #2! Went way out of my comfort zone and bought a pair of jean shorts. Then wore them! I haven't worn shorts since I was a kid (definitely in 25+ years) because I always hated my legs and just never felt comfortable. Same with tank tops. Well I bought these and wore them OUT IN PUBLIC and it was a wild experience. Kind of liberating. I felt like a new person!
Being a single father with half custody means my training varies week to week. Consistency is hard to come by because one week I can basically do whatever I want, and the next, my life needs to flex around the presence of my children. With the State Meet three weekends out, I really wanted to train yesterday. I had a rest day Tuesday, trained Wednesday...didn't really need another rest day so soon...and taking the day off would mean 4 training days in a row coming up...
But these are my children. They are the best part of my life. I will be a "weightlifter" for a little while. I will be their father forever.

I love it when a plan comes together. Next week I start on a new phase, a new training block at the gym following a few weeks of de-load since testing. Got some goals. Really excited to see how things go in the next 3 months. #gym #gymlife #weightlifting
