STRENGTH comes in many different forms. Yesterday’s training was an unexpected challenge. With each and every rep my body wanted to give up. After my first set I sat down and wanted to just start crying because of how my body was responding. As I sat there I started reflecting on how for I have come mentally and that gave me the drive to stand back up, take a breath, and take on the next set. Each day brings new battles but I think those battles are really just unexpected blessings. Although I necessarily feel physically strong I was able to walk out of my training session knowing that my mental strength was able to push through. I really feel like days like these are what shape you as an athlete so I’m choosing to see the blessing in the challenge.
Also I couldn’t ask for a better community and team. These people have consistently been uplifting through thick and thin and I couldn’t be more thankful for this lifting family 💛

I used to think that I was addicted to sugar. I did my best to cut out added sugar entirely from my diet. Which is close to impossible, because it's everywhere! I lived this way for almost 6 months. I felt great and it helped my fat loss. However I realized one thing, sugar is not the enemy!⁣
⁣
What I thought was sugar addiction was simply responses my body sent out when I was eating certain foods. It didn't matter if I drank soda, had chips or a fatty sauce the feelings were the same! I looked into the research and I found it very interesting🧐⁣
⁣
Studies has shown that when the subject was eating a banana or peanuts that person would automatically adjust and eat less in the following meal. Yet when the subject that had chips or soda they wouldn't adjust in the following way.⁣
⁣
What I learned from my experience combined with the research is that sugar addiction is BS and fruits are amazing! Don't put them in the same category as the refined stuff such soda and candy.⁣
⁣
Sugar is not the reason that we're obese and unhappy. Lack of movement and over consuming processed junk is. The later doesn't matter if it's filled with fats, carbs or a mix of both. They are so easy to over eat because of the lack of nutrients and the dopamine response we instantly get after consuming them 🤑⁣

You can definitely eat these and lose fat, as long as you do it in moderation! 🔥⁣

Had a cracking 2 days in the gym this weekend with the #TOLOfam Managed to get my #benchpress PR on video (thanks @sam_ve_gains) and also tried out #planking with weights on my back in the #bootcamp class. Check out @tolo_fitness face in the video as I had tried and failed a few times at this weight - he was just as confused as me as to how I managed to get it after failing so many times before 😂 Also nailed a good amount of 40kg #militarypress reps which I’ve never done before! I hate tyre flipping but the 100kg felt manageable yesterday for 5 lengths of the studio - gained some bruises from it though 🤣 Today in PT I pulled the 60kg tyre which had 4 10kg plates on top - I’m sure I’ve failed at that before when I tried it. Must have just been having a strong weekend as I got 20reps of 110kg #rackpulls (couldn’t lift my 120kg but I’m good with that!) and 100kg felt good - plus I was standing on a plate so I was at the best height! 💪🏻💪🏻 Was also brill having @zoealexander07 join Sam and I for our Sunday sessions 👍🏻😁

Had a cracking 2 days in the gym this weekend with the #TOLOfam Managed to get my #benchpress PR on video (thanks @sam_ve_gains) and also tried out #planking with weights on my back in the #bootcamp class. Let‘s sum up 2019. It was a tough but fun year. I competed a lot. I did 13 (!!!) competitions - 4 of them in crossfit and 9 in weightlifting (No cf comps next year). I learned a lot about myself and I am excited for 2020.

The preparations for the next season have already started and I‘m ready to put in all the work. Some of you know that my biggest goal for next year is to qualify for the European championships (junior) in weightlifting.
