T-15 days until I return to Namibia and visit a new country: Zambia! 🇿🇲 Started planning this trip right after Watson ended. I knew I wouldn’t last long without abroad travel and big cats...
Last year, I spent a month in Namibia working with @ccfcheetah to learn about human-cheetah conflict. This experience was eye-opening. Yet as I looked down at the vast deserts on my flight out, I felt I hadn’t done a good enough job exploring the culture and ecosystems of Namibia outside the CCF field station. It’s easy to visit a place without really seeing it.
So I’m thrilled to get the chance to return to Namibia and better see this amazing nation. And, as always, I can’t wait to be back with the cats! 🐆

Narwhals are unique for the solitary tusk that protrudes through the tops of their heads. The horn is actually a canine front tooth that can reach as long as nine feet. Research from 2014 suggests that the tusk is used as a sensory organ, helping the narwhal pick up changes in its environment. Researchers say males of the species may use the horns to look for food or find mates. 🐋💙 📸 @u/waverly_Hills @awesoftheearth 👇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The drama that goes down on a carcass in the Mara is amazing. Each shot is like a renaissance painting scene.

Another tortoise photographed at the Charles Darwin Research Station. As I said in my last post it was amazing to hear about the extent of the conservation efforts for the different species of tortoise in the Galapagos. If only the rest of the world was this devoted! 🐢❤️

The fastest animal on the planet meets the sleepiest vet in California 😂 Peregrine falcons are amongst the coolest raptors I’ve ever worked with. Found nearly everywhere on the planet, these birds are the most widespread raptor on Earth and reach speeds over 200mph during their dives❗️Fun fact: These lovers mate for Life, which lasts about 13 years...easily longer than I can keep a mate haha
This beauty was found in a gutter and with a comminuted fracture of the left ulna 🦴 A rather ‘common’ bone to break in raptors, these birds actually recover well with propitiate medical care. With a solid wing wrap in place, strict rest and time to heal, this falcon should recover well and return to the open sky. #themoreyouknow🌈 .
