I am excited to announce my new sponsorship from @lacroixwater enthusiast @jesusmaryannejoseph, who introduced me to this new type of fizzy drink that has set the internet abuzz with savvy digitalmarketing and #hip #hipster #viral #meme #content that I find to be #sharable and cool in a totally uncontroversial way. It’s like—“LaCroix water, #iykyk.” But let’s actually discuss at length what we know about the immortal beverage brand that everyone was ok with for a while. It’s clear #LaCroix #memes revolutionized the market, skyrocketing to #viralvideo success with #relatable #usergenerated #instagrampoems from #millenial #influencers of #williamsburg-level status or above, before ultimately falling from grace and sending me thirsty DMs saying Will I please become their #underground #diy #guerrilla #advertising #shaman now that I have found #poemsforbrands humiliating. Ok, the croix, I said, you seem pretty refreshing in your honesty, and since I can no longer bear to be a public joke by writing about the things that move and inspire me, I will create a sick and emotionally-manipulative campaign for you no problem. Hold on, they said, but already I was loading the air rifle and shaving my head and crossing myself in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit. Jesusmaryannejoseph, I know you will understand my urge to sing @dixie_chicks at the karaoke bar located in the #seattle catacombs underground. That’s where we practice occult fashionstatements of a new religion where you are tested by god to do human sacrifice of your own first born child in the form coffee mugs. Luckily, it’s the kind of faith where you put aside all negative memories of your relationship with your parents, and only remember the good times where you broke into the metalsmithing plant and blasted fluorescent lights and did home haircuts and built things together and listened to the anvil chorus on repeat to cut through your dementia at the end. Maryanne, thank you for never resting in your faith in the life-giving power of brands; I think if I were to @askbrutalmary or @sarahgalvinwrites, both would agree that yes, this sparkling water of the cross is now, as ever, quite holy.
Spread Love Is The Brooklyn Way!
Changing our world one shoe at a time with @girlsforachange and @brooklynshoespace
Today I had the pleasure to hang out with these lovely young ladies and CEO @sistah_angela during their annual Creative Industries Fashion Boot Camp, in my hometown of Brooklyn.
The goal of this partnership was to expose them to the fashion footwear industry. Prior to the trip the girls had access to our Footwear Design & Manufacturing online course. They brought with them their knowledge, questions and new appreciation for footwear to the wonderful (and beautifully expecting) @keikohirosue
Ms. Hirosue shared with them her passion for shoes, product design, and her journey to co-establishing the ONLY Woman-Owned Footwear Factory 👑. I was completely inspired by the creative energy these young women had. The design projects they produced from the course were better than paid professionals. They even had a chance to use the industrial machines and sew some leather pieces together - further enhancing the interaction and engagement. Making the connection between studying and a tangible experience. It was awesome!
The Brooklyn Shoe Space serves the community by offering all a chance to learn about the craft of shoe making. Sign up for one of their workshops if ever in BK. Check out their Kickstarter page for their Vegan footwear line called, LOYAL. Find out what goes on behind the seams of Lulah bags on shoplulah.com. Donate to the GFC organization at www.girlsforchange.org
They - WE - are fighting to keep the future of this industry alive even in the full frontal face of uncertainty. Support these women and their businesses. I will be writing a full feature on this next week. Stay tuned. ~Tanita
