What keeps you coming back to Sundara
It was only a few months in for me, and Mae started off a class with the words “hip opener”. Being new to the practice, I didn't know what was in store. See, I know there are different types of trauma, but until a couple years ago I hadn't really given much thought to how many times I had brushed up against it. A couple years ago I sat in a daze and counted on my fingers... I fell off my parents 2-story home at 15, I was dropped off a 4-story NOAA research vessel when a crane failed while lifting my dive boat out of the water at 22, I got ciguatera poisoning at 24 while working on a small island 2 hours off the coast of Fiji and couldn't feel from the waist down, 6 weeks after having my son at 32 I ended up with an emergency surgery, & 2 years ago I had a necessary hysterectomy to remove an unknown mass which went routine but 12 weeks later was found on the floor of our bathroom having had all internal stitches come undone and no internal healing. Afterwards, my doctor said she could only find a couple of cases where this had ever happened and in those cases the women didn't make it. So in my daze of contemplation I knew I needed to go from being scared of dying to being happy to be alive. I think this is what made yoga fit in my life a year ago, being able to reassess and feel safe. And when I found myself at the end of Mae's class in January, listening to a reading where the word "safety" resonated, I found myself in tears, releasing grief, sorrow and fear. That unexpected emotional release when my mind was consciously concentrating only on the poses made me a believer in yoga and all of the benefits it provides. That's why I keep coming back. That AND the feeling I get when I walk in to the studio and say hi to whichever instructor is there that day. Murielle and Mae have brought in some truly wonderful people to lead classes, each one of teaches me more than just positions and breathing. I am reminded that each day is different, and I smile with my new friends.

I'm not strong for a woman...I'm just strong.
Here’s the thing...in life and business, nothing is handed to us.
I didn’t pick up a barbell and immediately squat 200 pounds.
I didn’t start a business and poof** hit 6 figures.
I didn’t put on my sports bra and lifters and immediately start Olympic lifting like a pro.
I didn’t start a business and sell out my services without doing the work first.
It takes discipline, hard work, energy, and strength.
So remind yourself that no one reached their destination overnight and give yourself a pat on the back for the amazing work you do!!!
And then let me know in the comments - what is one thing you’re working on right now!
