Ann Richards used to tell people she got into politics because she didn’t want her tombstone to read “She kept a clean house.”
Instead, she went into government and cleaned house as the gutsy Texas woman she was.
She became a national name in 1988 with a remarkable keynote speech at that year's Democratic National Convention. I was there and can attest that she had the entire hall—along with millions of people watching on television—in the palm of her hand as she laid out a hopeful vision for her beloved home state and America.
She ran for governor, she said, “to open up the doors of government and let the people in.” She did just that. Among other accomplishments, she appointed more women, Latinos, African Americans and LGBTQ people to government posts than all of the state's previous governors combined.
A woman's place is in the dome, indeed!

Remember ladies, when used perfectly, that daily little pill is 99% effective when it comes to preventing pregnancy. So let's keep in consistent, shall we
I was a classroom teacher for 10 years and every year I consistently had a minimal amount of parents to show up for conferences, school events, etc. Sometimes, I would resort to thinking that my students’ parents “must not care” to be involved. As i got older, wiser, and more informed by actually seeking to understand why my parents were not as involved, I learned that it wasn’t that they did not care...but for many of them it was work schedules, transportation, not feeling welcomed by staff members, etc. It is easy to use families as a scapegoat for why our black and brown students are not achieving at high levels , but I now choose to believe that families are doing the best that they can. I also choose to look at the systemic and institutional inequities that make it challenging for them to be as involved as they would like to be. .

Dear Sulli, I am a fan from England and I want to leave this message here for you:
To the beautiful Sulli who is no longer here physically but in our hearts, I am so sorry and deeply saddened for the amount of torment you received online. Such harsh mistreatment and unkind people in this world do not define you as a person Sulli. With fame comes both the popularity and the people who think they have the right to judge your private life. I don't truly know you or what you went through. However, I can only begin to imagine how much pain you suffered from the unkindness of others harsh words. Mental health is so important, and with the increase of social media in our everyday lives, now more than ever kindness and support is needed to overpower hateful comments. Especially for those who dedicate their lives to being idols that people look up to. Even though you are no longer here Sulli, I hope you are now resting in peace and no longer suffering. I always looked up to you and still do. Your effort with fighting for women's rights and creativity as an artist will be remembered. You have been so strong for many years and trying to maintain a positive image as an idol despite all the bullying and harassment you received. We all need a good reminder that with fame you are still a human being with feelings. All your efforts did not go to waste and I recognise all that you did Sulli. I hope one day things can change so that we all come to understand that online harassment and bullying is not acceptable relating to peoples personal lives, regardless of fame. Thank you for being an inspiration to me Sulli. Please know that you are loved. Rest in peace. ♥️
