Wrestling is the oldest form Combat Sport involving Wrestling techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other Grappling holds. The sport can either be theatrical for entertainment (see Professional Wrestling), or genuinely competitive. A Wrestling bout is a physical competition, between two (occasionally more) competitors or sparring partners, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand combat systems.
Wrestling as a type of mock combat and display behaviour among males has anthropological roots, and is also seen in non-human Great Apes.
There are cave drawings in France that are 15,000 - 20,000 years old. Early Egyptian and Babylonian relief's depict Wrestling bouts where Wrestlers are using most of the holds known to the modern-day sport. Wrestling was a big part of ancient Greek literature and legend. In ancient Greece, Wrestling occupied a prominent place in legend and literature; Wrestling competition, brutal in many aspects, was the supreme contest of the Olympic Games. The ancient Romans borrowed heavily from Greek wrestling, but eliminated much of its brutality.

First World Greco-Romen Wrestling held by Vienne Austria on 23 May 1904. Because of this date we will make 23 May World Wrestling Day and celebrate each year when this day come. The World Wrestling championship implementation date of May 23, "The World of Wrestling Day"
