Once upon a time I used to hate #meditation and then I would suffer through it because I was told it was good. I often came out feel #shame because I wasn’t “doing it right” or apathetic because what was the point of this. .

Yeah.... that’s not how I use props. Just ask my morning’s class how these blankets “propped up” their practice!

So often props get a bad rap for being crutches in a practice. When in reality, props can be used to open the door to a position (not to mean that it’ll make it any easier!), or they can be used in so many ways to create engagement and awareness in the body.

Friends we made it! The trek from Cali back to Alberta was one I was dreading as it’s over 20hrs across an entire country, but once we got started and were in the flow of this “challenging project” it was much easier than my mind made it up to be. Now my “anxiety” has moved onto focusing on the next major challenge which is dealing with everything we need to do before we take off for a 4-5 month trip across the globe, so that includes handling all of life, focusing 3-4 weeks on getting a regular yoga practise in, waking up earlier, doing our taxes, going to the dentist, taking our puppy to the dentist, getting blood work done so I know what supplements I need to take on the journey, selling our car our excess stuff in storage and so much more. Its truly GAME ON right now, and sometimes all it takes to get to this game on level is to change your environment and performance by adding a deadline, we have till Oct 15th to do all of this. Most people miss opportunists in life because opportunity quite often comes wearing overalls and looks like work! What In your life right now looks like work that might be a huge opportunity unfolding? Also, the key here is to reframe how you look at the anxiety/stress in your life, if you look at stress as something that you have a mindful relationship with it can be a good thing that is not detrimental to your health but more an evolutionary impulse bringing you closer to living a life In total alignment with your HEART. Lately I’ve been feeling like I’m taking on #toomuch at once, and I can’t get on top of anything.

Currently I’m taking 5 courses, have 2 jobs, and building a signature program. Add in trying to maintain somewhat of an active and social life. I’m not managing.

Having a schedule helps (to a point), but not when you’re dead tired and still have so much to do.

This doesn’t mean I’m quitting or giving up. It means things may take longer to get completed but oh will it be worth it when I’m done everything!!

🍃There are 2️⃣ common syndromes associated with prolonged seated positions
1️⃣ Upper cross syndrome: the result of tight traps, levator scapula, & pectorals while also having lengthened & inhibited neck flexors, rhomboids, & serratus anterior
2️⃣ Lower cross syndrome: the result of a tight low back, & hip flexors while having lengthened & inhibited abdominals, glutes, & hamstrings 🍃When muscle systems become unbalanced the skeleton shifts into improper position. This can cause a variety of symptoms such as:
🍂tensions headaches
🍂neck pain
🍂upper back pain
🍂tight chest
🍂weak core
🍂lower back pain
🍂sore shoulder blades
🍂sore jaw
🍂tiredness
🍂restricted upper body mobility/flexibility
🍂numbness & tingling in upper arms
🍂pain & reduced rib range of motion
🍂hip joint dysfunction
🍂improper curvature of the spine 🍃Corrective exercise is the process of undoing improper muscle patterns to realign posture & prevent/treat pain. It is the scientific process of releasing overworked muscles while also strengthening lengthened & inhibited muscles
🍃However, isolated muscle treatments are just the beginning steps. The body is a cohesive unit, therefore once the joints are worked on individually, they must be integrated back into proper function through total body movements. It is critical that these exercises are monitored for absolute posture 🕴🏼correctness as to not revert back to improper movement habits
🍃Besides relieving pain, corrective exercise also improves posture, which allows for better function of internal organs i.e. organs responsible for digestion & breathing🌬Circulation 💗 is also improved which means tissues are supplied efficiently w/ oxygen & nutrients. Not to mention the obvious confidence that comes from proper postural alignment🕺🏽
