So it probably seems like all my posts about essential oils have something to do with my toddler. Many of them definitely are. Here's the deal. Out of the three of us (four if you count our puppy) my son probably benefits the most from our oil use because we are most consistent when it comes to him so.... Our most recent struggle has revolved around getting Asher to stay in his bed all night. And I'm not talking about him getting up once or twice, I'm talking upwards of five or six times a night, sneaking into our bed and throwing a full blown tantrum when we try and take him back to his big boy bed. It SUCKS.
So we busted out the oil arsenal and we have been diffusing 2 drops each of Cedarwood, Juniper Berry and Ylang Ylang along with continuing to spray Lavender and Eucalyptus on his pillow and favorite stuffed animal.
Needless to say, we have had FOUR...FOUR... FOUR...(did I say it enough!) blissful nights of sleep by ourselves in our own bed, so if you are struggling with your kiddos staying asleep, I highly recommend you try this blend. I think I'm going to name it the "baby whisperer" 🙌🙌🙌
sacred mountain - the first oil I added to my ER after snagging my starter kit. so many people loved this oil and I was so intrigued. praise hands I got her early because she’s truly a magical forest dream. it’s a blend of ylang ylang, balsam canada, black spruce, and cedarwood. i’m an EMOTIONAL PERSON. I mean emotional (enneagram 4🙋🏽♀️) so finding an oil to balance and ground my emotions was hugeeee. I diffuse ALL the time or roll on my wrists with a roller I made. use it as a natural perfume. it’s definitely in my top ten. anybody else sacred mountain fans if you don’t have it, add it to ya list
Did you know about Ylang Ylang (pronounced as e-Lang e-Lang) It's botanical name is known as Cananga odorata. :
It has many health benefits and used as an essential oil in many synergy blends. 🌿
Some of the health benefits include - Relieves stress : it helps to reduce anxiety and stress and produces a calming effect - Repairs nervous system : it fixes nervous system disorder and damage, thus lowering stress on nerves and thereby reducing anxiety or panick attacks - Prevents depression : as mentioned above, it helps to alleviate symptoms of nervous system disorder which helps to balance the overall mood to promote feelings of joy and positivity, helpful for eradication of grief, sorrow or chronic stress
Due to it's sweet, floral and exotic scent, ylang ylang often blends well with bergamot, grapefruit, lavender, clary sage, jasmine and neroli. (I'll share more info on these essential oils in the next few posts)
🌿 ❌Despite all the above health benefits, ylang ylang is not safe for kids under age 10 ( both topical or diffusion) due to the stronger nature of the oil as well as possible skin allergic reactions. ❌ Those pregnant, nursing women, or people with existing or underlying medical conditions should consult with their Doctors. ❌Never use the oil undiluted on skin, carrier oil or hydrosols (usually safer for kids) should be used. ❌However beneficial ylang ylang is to the body, never use excessively as it results in headache and nausea.
The above reasons are why I'll never use ylang ylang in my kids blend for safety reasons. 🌿
✔️✔️There are other replacements of anti-depressant or uplift of mood essential oils for kids such as Sweet Orange, Lavender and Vetiver.
