Almost 95% of Yosemite National Park is federally-designated wilderness -- undisturbed, undeveloped land where nature is allowed to prevail.
This designation was established in the 1964 Wilderness Act which states: "A wilderness, in contrast with those areas where man and his own works dominate the landscape, is hereby recognized as an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain."
Backpacking is a great way to explore Yosemite's vast wilderness but please remember to help preserve and protect this land by leaving no trace.
Whats your favorite way to explore and enjoy wilderness 🥾🏕
A few weeks back I got to experience Yosemite for the first time and this @jeep Grand Cherokee got us from the coast all the way there and back! Now 🎅🏼 I have been good this year, check your 📜... just saying 🙏
Trees are the best humans I ever met.. ever so giving, ever so silent, ever so humble.. Rooted and sky scraping at the same time.
We went to meet these giant sequoia trees at Mariposa, Yosemite.. my first snow hike.. I absorbed a lot of gratitude from these giants who have lived through fires, climate change, snow, rain.. stand tall inspiring people to live greater and better despite of their testing journeys.. a heart is nothing if not humble.. Description in order:
1. Trail to sequoia
2. Sequoia tunnel tree: this tree was carved into and still breathes and it’s bark is still growing from the inside out to keep the giant intact and living.. a symbol of inner growth despite any external circumstances.
3. The Giant grizzly sequoia: Lived through fires and tests of times, this beautiful giant is the hugest of them all and has barks facing the sky.. you could drive a truck inside this one and it will still live.. 4. My favorite sequoia tree
5. The fallen monarch (description in next picture) : more than just a piece of natural art.
