Had the pleasure of presenting at the California Reducing Disparities Project Annual Meeting, hosted by California's Office of Health Equity. I shared how we can use dance as a tool for healing and to promote general well-being, during the plenary and African American break-out session. ⠀⠀

Sometimes I can’t believe I get paid to have this much fun — teaching folks how to embody joy thru movement, and yet it makes complete sense. Our institutions and communities at large focus so much on the mind and often forget how we can tap into the wisdom of our bodies. Having more integrative approaches to wellness and processing information is important. We need individuals and organizations like the ones at this conference committed to providing a variety of support and recourses to improve our relationship to mental health care, because mental health impacts everyone. ⠀⠀

As we enter mental health awareness month, let’s ask ourselves what our role is in supporting this cause. Here are some questions to consider: How can we continue to distigmatize and support folks struggling with mental health challenges How can I take better care of myself and improve my own relationship with my mental/emotional/physical well-being ⠀⠀
