Bent-Over Unilateral Barbell Rows. A variation of one of the best isolated shoulder retraction exercises. Here I'm using a barbell instead of the typical dumbbell, which increases the difficulty in balancing the long bar while lifting. This proprioceptive challenge makes sure the lift is done with intent and balance rather than blind power in jerking the weight upwards. If done properly, the bar should be pulled straight up and remain balanced as the rhomboids and posterior deltoids are effectively targeted. Notice full protraction should be performed at the bottom phase to lengthen the rhomboids before contracting to pull the scapula back into retraction followed by arm extension and elbow flexion. Make sure the spine remains neutral at all times with minimal rotation, focusing on a pure retraction movement in the scapula. Just landed back from two more days of back to back travel โœˆ๏ธand 3am Alarms โฐVisited Bhopal and Indore in India. Two great cities with some yummy local food ๐Ÿฒ that makes you want to cheat ๐Ÿ™ˆ Both were day trips from Delhi, so the first day I rushed straight from the Airport to the Box! ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผ I'd been up since 3 so didn't want to do anything heavy or intense so ended up doing this 10km Row and PR-ED by 2 minutes ! ๐Ÿ† What an amazing feeling ๐ŸŽ‰I thought I wouldn't even be able to do 5! When you do things you don't expect, it feels even better ๐Ÿ˜Š Too late today when I landed, so it was rest day by default.
