The Story of Format: Chapter 3
I could not give up. I started to call and email more schools until I realized the summer was almost half way over and I still didn’t know where I was going to college. However, a Division 3 school called Western New England College had responded and was willing to let me play in the Fall, but with no guarentees. They weren’t located too far from home and had the engineering program that I was looking for so I decided to go for it. I knew it was going to be tough to make the team, let alone start, but I really felt that if I played my best it would be possible. So I gave it my all.

If you were lucky enough to play baseball all the way through the varsity level on Long Island then you were well aware of all the players that were going to play baseball in college. I know I was. Throughout the seasons and summers I would hear that this person, and that person, will be going to this D1 school, or this college on whatever scholarship. At first I thought to myself, that’s so cool. I saw these guys as almost my idols. I envied them because to me it would be a dream to play baseball at the college level. But as my varsity season came to an end, I realized that I had actually played pretty well. I even happened to win an award. Up until this point I had only made a minor effort to reach out to colleges. So now with a little more confidence, I decided to contact a few more. However by this time it was too late. College teams already had their rosters filled. I wasn’t sure what to do, but could I really give up a sport that I had loved and played my whole life
