It’s pretty sad when you live in Florida and you only get here about 3x a year. It’s a story of failure, how to never give up, and make sure it always matches your C. The story starts with the picture of the tree. It was a grapefruit tree that used to flourish. I was never here to tend to it as I worked away the hours behind a sewing machine. I decided last summer at age 50, life really needed to change I had put on 20 lbs over the years and sat all day long. So I made a plan and this is what I have learned along the way. PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF. If you chip away at something little by little you can achieve a lot more than you think you can. I broke up my days into small blocks of time to work on small projects all day long. My brain tends to get overwhelmed and for me lots of different tasks help me to focus. And what I wanted was a garden and to lose weight. IF YOU USE YOUR CELL PHONE AS AN ALARM, STICK IT ACROSS THE ROOM. The best thing I could have done to stick to getting up at 5:00 am to start my day on my knees is move it away from me. If its next to me I will surely hit the snooze button. LOOK AT THE LITTLE THINGS. I wanted a garden, but I had a dead tree in the way. I started. Digging for 1 hour every day. And slowly but surely we exposed its roots, cut them off, & pushed it over. Now for the really hard work. LEARN FROM YOUR FAILURES. They were put here by God to prune us. And after several months I dug up the trees root system added some dirt and planted some seeds. Things grew up but with too sandy of soil, things died away. But not was all lost. I learned why we failed and have started again. I have not lost my hope of a garden. And now I have 2 free doors from a neighbor to add a green house in the corner. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank each and everyone of you who helped out in any way today @willowcreekpca Fall kickoff luncheon. I might have been the team lead for this event, but none of it would have happened without a lot of hard work on everyone's part. From the beginning to end I think it was a great event. I am very thankful to be part of a church that has had such an impact on the community for the last 30 years. I've been there for the last 3 but it feels like a lot longer than that. And Dr. Brown's message today was one I needed to hear. #aservantsheart #willowcreekchurch #familyofgodThe bag. It's finally almost finished lol. It started out as one thing and has ended up being a bit different. But that's how the creation goes. And that's what drives me to keep going. To keep creating and to start serving. This bag was going to have a zipper around it so that the cc holder flap would open on the back. But the material is leather..yes real purple leather my son gave me...with all the layers that after a couple of tries I gave up and put this away. Away till after the shop had closed. Thinking maybe it was a mistake and I would trash it. I even went out and bought a new little zippered pink wallet that works pretty good. But since the house and most of life has been reorganized, I've had a chance to really go thru all of my fabrics and things in the sewing room. One thing I've learned in life is that you need to take a good long look at your life and be thankful for every single thing. I'm blessed with enough fabric, patterns, and supplies to make myself and my daughter some new clothing. A good collection of zippers, notions, pins, and tools to last a lifetime. And a chance to be as creative as I can. And this bag needs its strap attached and the other half of the snap. So as we went thru it all I found that we have been truly blessed over the years with all that we have accumulated. And now it's all a whole lot more functional and we got to purge a lot. Purging or pruning of ones life is a gift from God that wakes you up to reality and His plan for your life. Yes I know the front of the flap is a bit crooked, but I'm very proud of how this turned out. And now I have a whole lot more cc slots than most bags. So a bit of crooked won't bother me. I'm thankful that now I get to sew for myself and my family and not be a slave to the sewing machine. I'm thankful that I'm putting the things that are most important to me first. Even thou things are very tight right now, I feel rich as can be with the time I have with with my family. No matter what happens in my life I know that God will take care of me. And I want to dedicate my life to Him. #aservantslifeVery excited to be part of the events team for the Fall Kick-Off this Sunday @willowcreekpca to help them celebrate 30 years.
