what you do doesn’t make you who you are, it’s why you do it. im really just here to share God’s love and pour onto others as He loved me unconditonally, as wholly imperfect as I am. no way would I have imagined I would be where im at. it’s even greater when you know others with the same vision, who can empathize and understand your upbringing, cheering you on for who you are. appreciate you @frankcooker. missing @jasonmayden. #allGod #wearechildren

speech class: an introduction (2014) ⁣ through my youth streetwear taught me about storytelling, community and authenticity. by way of @thehundreds blog, I was fascinated by the story of @bobbyhundreds and @benhundreds. motivated by the hard work ethic of @jeffstaple ( almost interned at @staplepigeon, hi @annamal 😅). and intrigued by the raw genuineness of @brooklyndom1. there was an obsession of listening to other people’s stories, of how these brands came about, how inspirations came to fruition and how an idea became a reality. I wanted to be just like them, but I soon realized that their story was theirs, not mine. ⁣ ⁣ I started to think, what was my story? what’s important to me and what can I share? my story didn’t involve skateboarding in the streets of LA or having a brother who introduced me to hip-hop. I actually grew up in a traditional church as a pastor’s kid, under deep scrutiny 🤷🏻‍♂️. there was an expectation of how I needed to present myself and portray myself as a believer when in reality, it wasn’t about how I looked or dressed, but about how I lived my life. ⁣ ⁣ over the years, what’s become the most important thing in my life is my faith and my identity in Him as a child of God. my passion is to love God and His people, sharing the message to everyone that #wearechildren from different backgrounds, interests and brokenness, having come in different shapes and sizes. we are perfected in His image, worthy and called to exemplify our Creator. ⁣we love, for He loved us first. being a child of God isn’t about how you look or dress, but how you live. ⁣this is what @childworldwide is about. I hope to share this vision through storytelling and building a community⁣, with authenticity. ⁣ thank you for reading.⁣ ⁣ #justachild

it’s crazy to see what streetwear has become today. it’s been a huge part of my life and upbringing in los angeles, not just as a brand but a way of life. an attitude of rebellion. a sub-culture where if you really knew about it, you knew about it. a sense of belonging, a secret group of people that were into the same thing. im super excited to dive into this @bobbyhundreds. what’s even crazier is that I was the 15 year old that would check @thehundreds blog, every single day just to see if my picture from the store photo booth had made it to the blog (never happened), but here I am now, 12 years later, as part of the industry - trying to keep up with the pulse of the youth and cater to them. it’s not what it was back in 2007 but I will forever do my due diligence to educate and share that streetwear has always been about the community and a culture, not just a t-shirt. thank you for inspiring and impacting my life bobby, stay posted for @childworldwide.
