Proud to have written and photographed an article on my friend Lionel Hotene in the latest @stonesoupsyndicate, about some of the awesome work he and the rest of the whānau at @kokirimarae do in and for their Mangere community. I was fortunate to be introduced to Lionel last year through @eat.newzealand & @the_kai_ika_project. Follow their Instagram and get down to Grey Lynn Farmers Market and help support the marae by purchasing Hua Parakore (certified organic) veggies from them.

Air BnB hack 104, get up before resort dwellers so you can spend the nicest part of the day in their hammocks before their children ruin the paradise vibes...
Usually I’d accompany the solstice with a big fire cooking a feast for friends before an attempt to dance until the sun rises. This year this pic of Nick, resident OG of @thefoodfarmnz, tending his hāngi fire during a recent shoot will have to do as I cook a plant centric feast for the family accompanied by a local pagan soundtrack. Happy solstice everybody.
Manawa maie te putanga o Matariki
Manawa maie te ariki o te rangi
Manawa maie te Mātahi o te tau ... I had the great privilege of making a video for @eat.newzealand to launch @feastmatariki - link to full video in bio. This was not only an opportunity to spend time with friends and heroes like Lionel from @kokirimarae, Nate & Anna from @gravity_fishing, Nick, Angela & family @thefoodfarmnz, @giuliosturla, @luc_soul of @odewanaka, @schwasstagram, Pablo and many others.
It was also an opportunity to learn and connect with Matariki as a winter celebration of this land. Watching @professormatamua lectures and meeting him was very inspiring and from now on, the yearly #archhillfarm winter solstice celebration will instead be an acknowledgment of Matariki.
