JUSTICES OF THE NEW JERSEY SUPREME COURT I convinced the Supreme Court of New Jersey (the highest appeals court in the State) to grant leave to appeal in the murder case of State v. Isaiah Bell, Ind No. 17-06-00293, Appeal No. 081743. Most attorneys in private practice never get an issue heard before the Supreme Court during their entire career, especially when requesting leave to appeal which carries less than a 2% chance of being granted. Oral Argument is scheduled on September 24, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Trenton, New Jersey. If I win, the issue will result in new law which will significantly expand a defendant’s grand jury rights and will clarify the jurisdictional limits of the grand jury’s investigative powers. This historic opportunity comes on the heels of my victory in the Federal trial of Jason Thompson who I got acquitted on all counts of Hobbs Act Robbery in January of this year. Another case to watch is In the Matter of the Search of 219 Emmet Street, Newark, New Jersey, Appellate Case no. A-001547-18T4. This case is before the New Jersey appellate division and also presents an issue that is the first of its kind in New Jersey—Whether the State’s trial court loses jurisdiction to entertain and decide a Defendant’s request for copies of search warrant documents and related police reports when the case, initially investigated by the State, is taken over by the FEDS and charged federally? If I win, it will significantly increase a defendant’s ability to gain access to crucial search warrant documents and related police reports that federal authorities would have no obligation to obtain and turn over to a defendant in the federal criminal case. Justice, opportunity and success seems to always be behind a closed door. @50cent @hank_steinberg @george_tillman @abcnetwork @sptv, along with an amazing cast, led by actor @nicholaspinnock is telling the inspirational story of how I had to kick in that closed door in order to gain my freedom and reclaim my life in a TV Series called FOR LIFE. But this experience is not unique to me. QUESTION... Who among you have found yourself standing in front of that same closed door? And why did you have to kick it in? Why wasn’t it opened for you to simply walk through?
