2 1/2 years ago I posted this picture with some garbage caption about working hard to lose weight.
And so many people were kind and encouraging and supportive of my “weight loss journey”. But it was all a lie. And the truth is, that even 50 pounds lighter, I was still just as unhappy. The months of starving myself, stepping on the scale, and even seeing results, didn’t change the fact that I hated what I saw in the mirror. There was no magic number that would have satisfied me. Left to my own devices, I would have starved myself until I disappeared.
I am so grateful for the Lord’s divine intervention in my life 2 years ago. Recovery is not easy and it doesn’t mean you will never be tempted again. I’m reminded of Paul in 2 Corinthians 12 when he begs God to take away his sin struggle. But the Lord reminds him “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. Oh what a wonderful reminder of the goodness of God. In the darkest of nights, he is with you.
Whatever your thorn, you are not alone.
