I still remember the intoxicating aromas, noises of the Medina in Tangier. The rush. I remember the pistachio maryjanes Baba bought me from a shoe shop. The choking fumes from diesel engines along the port. The coast of Spain in view across the Strait of Gibraltar on a cloudless morning. Afternoons of Fanta and mint tea poured in long streams from silver tea kettles. Breaking bread over chicken Tagine and couscous. It was priceless seeing the estate in real life this past March. Co-workers marvel at the fact that I flaunt my femininity, even in one of the most male dominated industries. Wearing dresses, a-line skirts in bright pinks and prints; bold jewelry; high heels even at 5'9" everydamnday. I'm a woman. Unapologetically. And like Marie, there is no compromise between female and power; expression and success. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀And, yes. Yes. I touched just about about every pink marble column in the place while dragging around my history book all day.Living in palm tree heaven.
