@marco_caldas06 @caldas_art For part of his Tikkun Olam (“service”) project for his Bar Mitzvah, my brother Marco is selling some of his recent drawings and donating all of the proceeds to El Refugio at the Stewart Detention Center in Georgia. He has also collected men’s clothing and shoes for released detainees, visited the detention center three times, met with several detained immigrants and their families during these visits, observed the Stewart immigration court, and attended multiple protests and marches in Atlanta during the past year. I think he is beginning to understand what it means to help “repair the world” and fight for what you believe in. Some of these pieces are already sold, but let me know if any of them speak to you and you would like to purchase it or “commission” something from him! He is selling them for $15, but if you are able to give $25, that would be enough for El Refugio to give a formerly detained immigrant a gas card to pay for transportation out of Lumpkin, GA. So, $15 or $25! And if you’re out of town, we’ll mail the art to you.

It’s been really lovely to have multiple reasons and moments to visit my work at the @highmuseumofart over the past couple of months.
